Job Description:

Coordinator Staff Education

Assists Director of Clinical & Professional Development, Clinical Nurse Managers, and Chief Nursing Officer to assess learning needs of nursing and house wide staff. Educates to national standards of care, regulation changes, OR State Board scope of practice standards, and hospital management best practices.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates up to date knowledge on clinical best practices to improve clinical outcomes
  • Ability to teach with up to date knowledge on latest nursing research and nursing theories
  • Demonstrates systems thinking when creating solutions to presenting problems
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills
  • Specialty knowledge of various patient populations – advanced assessment and interventions based on core curriculum of nurse educators, CNS(s), and other advanced practice nurses
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office and patient care equipment.
  • Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrates understanding and effective application of adult learning principles
  • Exercises good judgment and demonstrates effective critical thinking skills
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
  • Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position; familiar with electronic documentation systems

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in state of Oregon
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider instructor preferred
  • Master’s degree in nursing or higher
  • ANCC professional development credentialing within two years
  • Valid driver’s license in Oregon preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Five to seven years’ clinical experience preferred
  • Experience teaching large and small groups preferred

  • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
  • May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
  • Requires significant use of personal computer
