We are currently seeking a Bilingual Claims Specialist within our Affinity Markets business. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for making sound and accurate decisions in consultation with Management, in the settlement and effective management of Affinity Markets Life and Disability, Mortgage Creditor claims in compliance with the Company, Industry and legislated standards.
Position Responsibilities:
Claims Services Delivery: Provide high-quality claims services that meet or exceed customer expectations and adhere to the terms of the Certificate of Insurance.
Claims Management: Oversee life, disability and mortgage claims, adhering to guidelines and working with the medical department. Identify and address fraud and misrepresentation, and validate decisions that impact liability.
Assessment and Documentation: Analyze medical, employment and loan documents for claim eligibility, and manage disability and life insurance assessments. Archive all written correspondence and prepare legal briefs as required.
Training and Knowledge: Participate in 32 hours of continuing education to maintain knowledge of products, procedures, systems and claims management, while meeting service objectives with management.
Process Improvement: Process financial transactions related to payments and reserves, and contribute to the development and documentation of business process improvements.
Required Qualifications:
Bilingual (French & English) is required - The successful candidate will be required to communicate in English and French in order to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec.
Proven experience in interpreting contractual, medical, financial and legal provisions based on fair claims practices and principles.
Excellent customer service skills.
Interpersonal skills and communication expertise, both oral and written.
Good working knowledge of health issues and medical terminology.
Excellent analytical skills: evaluate conflicting information from various sources to determine risk when it is necessary to make sound decisions without delay by properly interpreting policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in life insurance and/or disability insurance claims processing an asset.
Sound judgment and dispute resolution skills.
Strong organizational skills with a penchant for conceptualization, research and analysis.
Ability to gather information from a variety of sources to facilitate decision-making and problem-solving.
Personal style must reflect the high level of professionalism that Manulife seeks to offer its clients.
Ability to work independently and to collaborate within a high-performance team.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Propensity to react constructively and decisively in stressful or emotional situations and to welcome change promptly and positively.

Salary range is expected to be between

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
