The Product Manager will be responsible for facilitating new product development, understanding the capabilities of competitors & suppliers, and providing objective insights and recommendations for customers and sales teams. They will support the needs of the business by working with cross-functional teams, specifically R&D, Merchandising, Marketing, Sourcing and Sales, to develop products that will help the business defend core product lines, grow sales with new customers and/or markets, and expand presence within existing accounts/markets.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Product Management
Owns execution of product development projects from customer request to launch.
Facilitate new product launches and manage end-of-life inventory recommendations for major programs.
Coordinate new product launches, including new product sampling to external sales team, price guides, product training and marketing materials.
In-depth knowledge of technical product specifications, product positioning, margin analysis and supply chain factors (MOQs, FOB vs. LDP costing, lead times, inventory turns, outbound freight, etc.)
Initiate new product development, clearly communicating product needs to cross-functional team and suppliers.
Contributes to pricing strategy, SKU rationalization and product roadmap
Participate in sales consultant and customer interviews to identify unmet product needs.
Competitive research & benchmarking
Custom Product Project Management
Evaluates all non-stock product requests and oversees projects from inception to completion including sampling, testing, and organizing for final presentation of products.
Provide timely follow-up to sales forces by answering product questions.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure that all incoming customer/sales requests are reviewed and resolved or passed to the appropriate group.
Overall setup of new item numbers and review and approval of product specifications. Continuously manage and maintain product components to ensure accuracy.
Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s Degree Required
3+ years' experience with Product, Business/Marketing Strategy, Project Management preferred
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, Salesforce and Power BI preferred
Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
Excellent problem-solving skills and enthusiastic about new ideas
