The pay range is $92,000.00 - $166,000.00

As a Lead Analyst within Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) you will own the creation of Target’s pyramid specific demand forecast and the associated unit volume at the department level for that pyramid.  You will have the opportunity to provide inbound and outbound forecasts informing staffing signals and storage demand for field team partners and contribute to the evolution of our collaborative forecasting routines. You will partner with S&OP Analysts, IM Managers/Directors, PIM Leaders, and Sr. Supply Chain Leaders, to publish weekly forecasts across 20+ month horizons. You will share forecasts with core leaders, and you will lead routines to continuously improve forecast accuracy, forecast process and utility. When problems arise you will lead partner teams to proactively develop solutions that balance Target’s operational constraints and sales and financial goals.

About you:

  • Four-year degree in an analytical field (ex. Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Industrial Engineering, Economics) or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of work experience in inventory management, inventory management operations, merchandise planning, labor engineering, transportation, data analytics or similar field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill set. A passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data and analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and build strong, cross-functional relationships & influence cross-functional decision making
  • Partner with HQ and operation teams to influence delivery of accurate business signals through business cycles
  • Ability to build consensus, influence and negotiate across a variety of levels (Sr. Analyst to VP)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive for continuous improvement through data and metric management
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and leading peers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. An ability to distill information into actionable, persuasive insights, and present to varying levels of leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coding and analyzing data in R or Python
  • Master’s degree in data analytics, business administration, industrial engineering, economics, or similar discipline


This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
