JOB DESCRIPTION

This position leads one or more software delivery teams to enhance the existing, high quality, Caterpillar MineStar product. The Engineer Manager will advocate innovation, continuously improve the team’s capability, capacity and efficiency.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Primary responsibilities are people management and development, alignment of product architecture and feature development to client strategy, and software engineering process execution and improvement.

  • Recruit team members, assign, direct and evaluate work, oversee career development, encourage continuous learning and a high-performance culture.

  • Taking ownership of the delivery of the product and overseeing the necessary elements that need to come together to produce a high-quality product

  • Embrace and nurture Agile mindset to help produce higher quality products with improved velocity

  • Remove impediments to the Delivery teams’ progress – including resolving conflicts

  • Embed a culture of ‘Built in Quality’.

  • Set and manage KPIs for the software development team

  • Build strong relationships with internal customers, stakeholders and integration teams to ensure delivery is smooth and customer centric

  • Promote innovation. Identify and mediate resource gaps, technical risks, program

  • Maintain technical proficiency in modern software product development including but not limited to cloud, data science, service orientated architecture, mobile applications, security, DevOps and alignment concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor level degree from an accredited university

  • Hands on software engineering (encompassing full product development lifecycle) or experience leading software engineering teams

  • Prior supervisory/team lead role

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in leading and working within geographically distributed teams/programs

  • Advanced knowledge of current and emerging technologies

  • Experience with leading the transformation of teams

  • Knowledge of mining technology and solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver using Agile Project Management and DevOps tools and processes within context of commercial programs

  • Agile development with experience/knowledge of the SAFe, Scrum, Kanban and Lean methodologies

  • Strong client focus and experience formulating technical strategy

  • Proven ability to lead via influence, and engage all levels of an organization

Travel Requirements  up to 15% domestic and international
