Manager, CSL Business Administration

We are looking to hire a critical role in Massey Cancer Service Line (CSL) that is focused on financial management, data analytics, business intelligence, and operational support, specifically within the cancer programs. The position requires leadership in overseeing a team of Financial Analysts, working cross-functionally with multiple departments, and playing a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining financial and database systems for CSL and the cancer programs.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a seasoned finance and data analytics professional who can manage a range of responsibilities, including system development, financial reporting, and analysis, procurement, and team leadership, all with a focus on supporting the strategic goals of the Massey Cancer Service Line.

Key Responsibilities:



Database & System Development:

Develop, implement, and maintain reporting systems and databases, such as the CSL Dashboard and Financial Reports.
Ensure data accuracy through regular reviews and audits.
Support system administration for departmental systems and troubleshoot any issues related to system interfaces.


Business Program Design and Analysis:

Support business intelligence and growth analysis for Cancer Disease Programs.
Provide input for strategic planning, cancer program expansion, and operational plans.
Develop financial models and provide variance reconciliations based on established budgets and contracts.


Financial Analysis & Reporting:

Conduct research and analysis on fiscal impact, business practices, and program trends.
Prepare accurate financial projections and ad-hoc analyses for leadership decision-making.
Monitor and prepare reports on revenue generation, financial variance, and forecasting.


Financial Management:

Oversee fiscal programs to increase revenue for the Health System, including oncology care models and value-based care programs.
Develop and manage budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency.
Perform cost analysis, expense reconciliation, and financial reporting.


Sourcing and Contracting (Procurement):

Manage procurement activities related to clinical and administrative supplies, ensuring compliance with fiscal and clinical mandates.
Monitor inventory and renovation projects, collaborating with vendors and internal agencies.


Supervision:

Supervise a team of data analysts and clerical support staff.
Handle recruitment, orientation, training, performance evaluations, and staff management in accordance with hospital policies.


Miscellaneous Duties:

Take on special projects as needed to support the mission of the Cancer Service Line and VCU Health System.
Assist team members and coordinate with other departments as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:



Required:

Education: Bachelor's degree (preferred in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or Accounting)

Experience:
At least 4 years in Finance, IT, Accounting, or Project Management.
Minimum of 2 years in data analysis, database management, and report writing.
Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, business analytics, and/or regulatory compliance.
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to conduct financial and business analysis.


Preferred:

Experience with Tableau, Workday, Strata, OncoLens, and EPIC (EHR).
Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with cancer program experience.
Project management experience.
Supervisory experience, especially in administrative roles.


Skills:

Strong communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams.
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Experience in data/information analysis, with financial and critical thinking skills. Previous experience with compensation, payroll, benefits, insurance, contracts, business administration, process improvement, data analytics, and/or regulation compliance. Minimum of two (2) years of experience with spreadsheets, databases, and report-writing software. Experience PREFERRED: Experience in data analytics. Experience in revenue cycle. Minimum of 2 years administrative/supervisory work experience. Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably an academic medical center or physician practice. Project management experience. Previous experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) preferably Cerner. Education/training REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Accounting, Human Resources, or other job-related field from an accredited program. Education/training PREFERRED: Master's degree in Health Administration or related field. Independent action(s) required: Able to conduct analysis and work independently with minimal supervision. Coordinates work with director as needed. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Has oversight for a team. Additional position requirements: May require working early/late hours or weekends.
