 What will you do in this role? As an Oakwood Staff Accountant

As an Oakwood Homes Staff Accountant, the essential duties and Responsibilities. This position will provide GL Accounting and operational support to the entire department.
•    Perform monthly reconciliations, accountant analysis and maintain documentation related to various balance sheet accounts (i.e. cash, receivables, prepaid’s, fixed assets, WIP, deposits, line of credit, accruals, etc.)
•    Prepare journal entries for customer deposits and AJE as needed
•    Daily Cash and deposits
•    Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
•    Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
•    Perform related projects as assigned
•    Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
•    Facilitate the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, reviewing and completing all assigned month-end functions

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
•    BA/BS in Accounting related degree required
•    1-2 years or more of accounting experience preferred
•    Previous homebuilding / construction experience preferred
•    Experience providing business support in a busy environment.
•    Good verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with internal and external customers.
•    Ability to follow defined business processes
•    Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
•    Solid computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook) required

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual in person attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly
