Senior Data Engineer

We are currently sourcing for a Software Engineer for CAT Regulatory Reporting Team

The Role

Sr Data Engineer will be working in development and delivery of high quality, timely and maintainable software solutions in an agile environment which meet functional and non-functional business requirements. This role will involve partner and stakeholder engagement, design and release support.

•      Working closely with our business partners to contribute to business-critical initiatives

•      Keeps current with IT blueprint, frameworks and technologies that would benefit us and improve our productivity; guides junior team members on technology

•      Collaborate with multiple stakeholders/large cross functional teams as part of work delivery

•      Follows practices and contribute towards innovative solutions to increase productivity

•      This is a hands-on role where you will write code for product features

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Years of demonstrated expertise in crafting high-quality data engineering solutions
  • Strong software development background in the Financial Industry
  • Strong SQL skills and knowledge of multiple RDBMS, specifically Snowflake (including SnowSQL), Postgres, SQL Server, and Oracle.
  • Proven experience building data pipelines using Python, AWS Batch
  • Hands-on knowledge of AWS infrastructure, including S3, EC2, RDS, EKS, Batch, and CloudFormation.
  • Experience in building Power BI Reports that transform data into aesthetically appealing visuals.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling principles, specifically 3NF and Star Schema models.
  • Familiarity with workload scheduling and orchestration tools like Control-M.
  • Expertise in Oracle PL/SQL development, SQL Scripting, and database performance tuning
  • Proven understanding of ETL tools like Informatica and Data Warehousing platforms such as Snowflake
  • A passion for learning new technologies and analyzing data to identify gaps and build solutions
  • The ability to independently address technical challenges and develop innovative solutions
  • In-depth knowledge of data composition concepts including Transactional, Data Mart, and Data Warehouse structures
  • A dedication to delivering high-quality software using DevOps, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery practices (Maven, Jenkins, Git, Docker)
  • Proven data analysis skills to ensure data quality such as accuracy, consistency, and completeness and to identify gaps and anomalies.
  • Ability to work independently in an Agile environment (Scrum and Kanban) brings technical stories to completion.
  • Design and build scalable data solutions, including data processing pipelines, migrations, and complex data modeling.
  • Collaborate with product owners and business partners to translate high-level requirements into actionable technical tasks.
  • Analyze and manipulate datasets to ensure rigorous data integrity, accessibility, and security throughout the entire lifecycle.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and thought leader, providing guidance and innovative solutions to the broader team.
  • Integrate automated testing and continuous validation into the sprint cycle to ensure production reliability.
  • Support and enhance production systems, focusing on high performance, speed, and overall system reliability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

The Team

As a Data Engineer you will be an integral part of the Regulatory Reporting team. You’ll get the opportunity to develop your skills, collaborate across Fidelity teams and continue to learn in a fun, collaborative, iterative, and rapidly changing environment.

This is a hands-on role where you will perform data analysis and help with testing and requirement analysis and verification of features. It is a great opportunity to build secure, scalable, resilient on Prem and cloud-based services utilizing modern software development practices. The Fidelity Regulatory Reporting Team is responsible for platform services and APIs that report CAT 605 and 606 reporting to FINRA. Platform contains highly advanced KDB software that ingests high volumes of equity and options trading data and generates relevant reports and sends it to FINRA daily.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

The base salary range for this position is $97,000-185,000 USD per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
