Position Overview:

As part of the talented Supplier Quality team, you will be responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining fuel, air and electrical suppliers through direct support of production operations, root cause / corrective action investigation, and active involvement with assigned suppliers to optimize suppliers’ processes for efficiency, quality & productivity.

Essential Functions:

The senior SDE – fuel, air & electrical will be a subject matter expert (SME) knowledgeable in fuel cell design and development, fuel cell testing and analysis, and have an understanding process systems supporting the development and testing of fuel systems. The individual will support the design review and development of new and existing components to ensure suppliers meet the quoted capacity and capability requirements.

  • Oversee supplier quality processes for fuel, air and electrical components.
  • Develop processes and systems to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Lead and facilitate quality solutions for urgent production and customer issues, focusing on defining root cause including underlying causes and develop preventative actions to prevent future recurrence.
  • Work cross functionally with purchasing and quality organizations to monitor current supplier performance (Relationship, Cost, Quality, Delivery), and generate / issue monthly performance scorecards.
  • Monitor and analyze supplier performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead / Facilitate cross functional teams to address quality issues and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist suppliers in advancing product quality efforts in coordination with engineering design and project management from initial design concept though product life cycle assuring adherence to specifications and industry/regulatory standards.
  • Lead/facilitate/support the development of PPAP documentation (Dimensional analysis reports, process flow charts, PFMEA, control plans, measurement system analysis, and material analysis reports) as required by the Quality Management System.
  • Drive a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement within the supplier network.
  • Drive supplier improvement projects in quality, delivery, and costs.
  • Regularly visit suppliers to complete supplier assessment, social compliance, quality system, process, and product launch audits as required.
  • Conduct supplier training programs to enhance quality awareness and performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering- or related technical field is required
  • Minimum of 5 years hands on experience in fuel systems (design, development, testing, analysis).
  • Knowledge of relevant fuel safety and environmental regulations
  • Experience of various process systems (e.g., injection/blow molding, extrusions, laser/spin/vibration welding, Brazing).
  • Strong problem-solving experience and tools.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, including design reviews, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans
  • Working knowledge of DOE, SPC, GD&T
  • Ability to interpret and understand complex drawings.
  • Understanding of #D CAD modeling and mold flow software.
  • Experience with failure analysis using advanced techniques.
  • Detail oriented with focus on delivering high quality results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic team environment.
  • Working knowledge of problem-solving techniques (8-D, A-3, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supply Chain/Procurement management experience is a plus
