Job Title: Intermediate buyer
Commodities: Adhesives, Coatings, Labels & Tapes
Location: Northville, MI - 80% Remote
Position Summary:
Cooper Standard is seeking an Intermediate Buyer to support sealing-related commodities, including adhesives, coatings, tapes, and labels. This role sits at the intersection of supplier management, sourcing execution, and cross-functional coordination, supporting both day-to-day purchasing activities and ongoing cost improvement initiatives. This is an ideal opportunity for a buyer who has hands-on purchasing experience and is looking to grow into a more strategic role.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supplier Management & Sourcing Execution
Manage supplier relationships across assigned sealing commodity categories
Support sourcing activities, including RFQs, supplier selection, and onboarding
Monitor supplier performance, delivery, and quality metrics
Partner with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply and resolve issues
Cost Management & Negotiation Support
Support cost reduction initiatives across assigned commodities
Participate in supplier negotiations (pricing, terms, and conditions)
Analyze cost drivers and identify opportunities for savings
Track and report cost savings performance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with engineering, operations, and quality teams on product and supplier needs
Support program launches and ensure supplier readiness
Assist in resolving supply chain disruptions and escalations
Maintain alignment between internal stakeholders and suppliers
Education and Qualifications:
2-4 years of purchasing or supply chain experience.
Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing or related field
Experience managing suppliers and executing sourcing activities
Exposure to RFQs, supplier negotiations, or cost analysis
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Proficiency in Excel and procurement systems
Work Environment/Work Conditions:
Hybrid work schedule (1-day in office)
