About the Role
The Grade 2 Registered Nurse under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or delegate, will be responsible for the delivery of   high-quality patient care within the team environment. The Grade 2 Registered Nurse will be responsible for the clinical care of patients and supervision of the clinical care of patients under the care of Enrolled Nurses within the unit. The Grade 2 Registered Nurse will be responsible for his/her own professional development, for supporting and assisting  his/her colleagues and facilitating achievement of specific KPI’s as developed for the ward/unit.

Classifications for this position will range from YP3 - YP9 ($69,253.60 - $92,601.60 pro rata per annum).

  • Current condition free registration with AHPRA

  • Current national criminal history check, or willing to obtain

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in cardiothoracic, cardiology or surgical specialties

  • Post Graduate Qualification in Cardiac or Critical Care, Certificate level or above is highly desirable but not essential

  • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated time management with the ability to confidently prioritise activities

About the Department
4 East is a 20 bed ward comprising of Cardiothoracic and Respiratory unit beds. 4 East is a dynamic learning environment that will provide you with exposure to a range of advanced medical and surgical nursing skills. The unit cares for post-operative cardiothoracic surgical patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, pacemaker insertion, and a range of thoracic specific surgery. 4 East provides cardiac monitoring, management of intercostal drainage, temporary cardiac pacing, low dose inotropic and antiarrhythmic support. 4 East cares for respiratory patient with a range of acute and chronic conditions.

We are a proud ward committed to learning and professional development. We welcome staff who hold post graduate qualifications and offer a post graduate certificate together with Deakin University. We encourage staff to obtain their Advance Life Support certificate. 4 East is considered a Critical Care Unit and has strong links with The Department of Critical Care Medicine, Cardiology and Coronary Care Units.
