Position: Campus Security Manager

Reporting to: Director of Campus Security

Location: Bentonville, Arkansas

Art and Wellness Enterprises (AWE) is seeking a skilled, highly motivated, customer-service centered individual to join the team as Security Manager. AWE supports operating non-profits founded by Alice Walton including the Alice L. Walton Foundation, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, Art Bridges Foundation, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Momentary, and the Heartland Whole Health Institute.

About the Position:

The Campus Security Manager plays a vital role in fostering a culture of safety and security throughout the campus community. This position is responsible for ensuring awareness and compliance with security policies and procedures, providing training for Campus Security staff and other team members, leading safety drills, and collaborating with various departments to address security needs for campus operations and events. The manager will also coordinate with security contracts to support large events and public programming across campus venues.

Primary work schedule will be normal office hours but must be flexible to support campus events and programming that may occur evenings and weekends.

What you will do

Responsibilities

  • Safety Culture Promotion: Foster a culture of safety by engaging with campus community members and addressing safety concerns proactively.
  • Policy Expertise: Serve as the expert on security policies, partnering with various departments to achieve operational success.
  • Collaboration & Planning: Attend departmental planning meetings to assess security needs and ensure appropriate measures are in place for campus events.
  • Training & Drills: Lead training sessions and safety drills for security personnel and campus staff to enhance preparedness and response capabilities.
  • Emergency Response Leadership: Actively participate in incident command teams, directing emergency response activities as needed.
  • Communication with Leadership: Keep campus leadership informed about safety, health, and security issues identified within your scope of responsibility.
  • Team Management: Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of deployed security personnel, ensuring they are well-equipped to fulfill their roles.
  • Incident Management: Coordinate responses to emergencies and alarms, compiling and reviewing incident reports, daily logs, and audits for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reporting: Create comprehensive reports on security status for management, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
  • Investigations: Ensure thorough investigations of safety and security incidents are conducted, actively engaging in complex and high-impact cases.
  • KPI Tracking: Facilitate and track key performance indicators, including training objectives, to measure effectiveness and compliance.
  • Budget Management: Manage budgets for security operations, monitoring expenses to ensure fiscal responsibility.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Proactively seek and obtain information regarding Campus Entity policies/promotions, activities, and events to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Report to work punctually, dressed in approved uniform and fully prepared for each scheduled shift.
  • Required to work in all scenarios including overnight shifts, campus closures, inclement weather and holidays due to essential personnel status.

Qualifications required for your success

  • Must have in good standing or be qualified to obtain licensure as a Non-Commissioned Security Guard in the State of Arkansas.
  • Significant experience in security management, preferably in an educational and/or event venue setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in security management or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to pass background check and other requirements.
  • Experience developing and executing security policies and emergency response procedures.
  • Experience providing security and safety training to a diverse audience.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and monitor expenses effectively.
  • Proficient level experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated proficiency with problem solving and conflict resolution skills, diplomacy.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide array of personalities and attitudes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Responder, CPR and other related certifications on a yearly basis.
  • Driver’s license required.
  • A preferred candidate will possess, or have an ability to obtain, industry-recognized certification as a security professional.  Examples include:
    • Certified Protection Professional – CPP
    • Certified Institutional Protection Manager - CIPM
    • Certified Security Supervision and Management - CSSM

Physical demands and work environment:

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Physical demands: Position requires utilizing a computer and telephone for prolonged periods of time, good eye/hand coordination, verbal, and written conversation with others, and lifting/carrying up to 75 lbs. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision. May require some regular walking, ladder climbing, etc.

Work environment: Work will primarily be performed in an office environment full-time (Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM.), but may also include museum spaces, construction sites, classrooms, libraries, trails, and nature, and in communities served.  Work environment may include exposure to potentially hazardous chemical solutions and weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings, may be necessary to support operational needs.
