What you bring to SBHG: 

  • Master's degree in social work, marriage & family therapy, or psychology from an accredited college or university required.

  • (1) year of direct service experience in a mental health setting is required (student internship and/or practicum time may be substituted).

  • Experience in a community-based therapy setting preferred.

  • Mental Health Specialist II: Licensed as AMFT, ACSW, or APCC, LMFT, LPCC, LCSW required.

  • Valid California Driver’s License required.

How you will make a difference: 

  • Identifies immediate risks and needs of and family and develops a plan to address them in collaboration with the treatment team.

  • Identifies ongoing treatment needs and develops plans, diagnoses, and updates problem lists as needed.

  • Facilitate treatment team meetings.

  • Uses a “whatever it takes” approach to provide services in various settings, including homes, schools/work, and community and office settings. Uses a personal vehicle to drive to and from off-site locations to provide services. May be required to transport participants and/or family members in a personal vehicle.

  • Provides services, including individual, family, and group therapy and collateral, to youth/TAY and their families, as deemed necessary and appropriate through the assessment process and in collaboration with the treatment team. Services are to be short-term, as longer-term services and resources are identified.

  • Available for 24/7 on-call services to assist in crisis intervention and to provide support for problem resolution. On-call is scheduled on a rotating basis.

  • Documents all services provided clearly and concisely within the Electronic Health Record within the timelines and framework established by Central Star. In collaboration with the team, complete all required reports and documentation for regulatory bodies.
