Make your mark in Western World Underwriting
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Regional Underwriting Team Lead in our Central or Southeast region to help mentor staff and drive profitable growth through our MGA partnerships. This pivotal role involves leading a high performing team, ensuring underwriting excellence, and cultivating strong relationships with key MGA partners.
How you will create an impact
Lead, mentor, and coach a regional team of P&C underwriters, providing guidance on underwriting related issues.
Act as an escalation point for referrals that fall outside the underwriter’s authority.
Cultivate and strengthen strategic relationships with key MGA partners to drive new business, ensure profitable retention, and execute regional business development plans.
Serve as a technical expert for more complex risks, providing guidance to the team and ensuring sound decision-making based on data analysis and market conditions.
Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes and market conditions, sharing insights with internal stakeholders and MGA partners.
Perform periodic underwriter quality audits, when necessary.
Identify and resolve routine team coverage and workload issues.
Participate in interviewing and onboarding of new staff in the region.
Represent the company at Industry Events.
Independently select, monitor, and price new and renewal business according to Company guidelines per Underwriter’s level of authority as outlined in individual “Authority Letter”.
Travel up to 25%, for both assigned agents and team member co-visits.
What you’ll need to succeed
10+ years of Commercial Insurance underwriting and/or brokerage experience, preferably in E&S
Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
In depth knowledge of the MGA distribution model
Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to evaluate complex risks
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external partners.
Deep knowledge of P&C insurance products, policies and regulatory frameworks.
Ability to train and mentor others
