We are seeking a Software Developer – Cloud Platform Engineering to build and operate enterprise-scale K8 Operators platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role is focused on developing cloud-native platform capabilities, Kubernetes Operators, automation frameworks, self-service provisioning, and deployment services that enable engineering teams to securely consume database services at scale.
The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering skills combined with hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Automation, Database Platforms, CI/CD, Ansible, and Linux systems engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Engineering & GCP
Design, develop, and operate cloud-native platform services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Build and enhance Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) capabilities on Operator for enterprise development teams.
Develop self-service provisioning and lifecycle management solutions for database platforms.
Drive platform standardization, automation, security, and operational excellence.
Optimize cloud infrastructure utilization, performance, resilience, and cost efficiency (FinOps).
Kubernetes & Operator Development
Design, develop, and maintain Kubernetes Operators for automated database lifecycle management.
Automate provisioning, scaling, upgrades, backup/recovery, failover, and patch management.
Manage stateful workloads and distributed database clusters on Kubernetes (GKE).
Implement GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices for repeatable deployments.
Develop reusable platform controllers, operators, and automation frameworks.
Automation & Software Development
Develop platform services, APIs, automation tooling, and deployment frameworks using:
Java
Python
Golang (Preferred)
Shell/Bash
Build and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and automation workflows.
Create and maintain RPM packages for database and platform deployments.
Develop deployment tooling and operational automation for GCP environments.
Build reusable frameworks for infrastructure provisioning and platform lifecycle management.
Database Platform Services
Build and support cloud database platforms including:
MongoDB
Redis
Cassandra
Vector DB
Graph DB
Caching DB
Implement replication, clustering, sharding, backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions.
Perform database upgrades, migrations, patching, and modernization initiatives.
Improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency through platform automation.
CI/CD & DevOps
Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Gradle, and automated deployment frameworks.
Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, validation, and compliance processes.
Implement DevOps and DevSecOps best practices.
Enable continuous delivery and infrastructure automation across platform services.
Reliability, Security & Observability
Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions using Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, and Google Cloud Monitoring.
Drive platform reliability, incident management, root cause analysis, and operational improvements.
Implement security hardening, vulnerability remediation, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
Ensure compliance with enterprise security and governance standards.
Preferred Qualifications
7–10 years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Software Development.
Hands-on experience building Kubernetes Operators and DBaaS platforms.
Experience developing RPM packages and deployment automation frameworks on GCP.
Strong expertise in Ansible-based provisioning and infrastructure automation.
Experience with cloud cost optimization (FinOps), security, and compliance frameworks.
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise platforms on Kubernetes and GCP.
