Job description

Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly proactive and experienced GCP Data Architect to design, implement, and manage scalable and secure data solutions on Google Cloud Platform for Hitachi, Ltd. This role will be instrumental in shaping our data strategy, ensuring optimal data flow, and leveraging GCP services to drive business insights and innovation.

Job Responsibilities**

* Lead the architectural design and implementation of robust, scalable, and cost-effective data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including data lakes, data warehouses, and streaming analytics platforms.
* Define and enforce data governance policies, security standards, and best practices across all GCP data initiatives.
* Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and engineering teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications and architectural designs.
* Select, integrate, and optimize various GCP services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Composer, and Looker for data ingestion, processing, storage, and visualization.
* Develop and maintain documentation for data architecture, data models, data flows, and data governance policies.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers and architects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
* Stay abreast of emerging GCP technologies and industry trends, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization within our data ecosystem.
* Troubleshoot complex data-related issues and ensure the reliability, performance, and integrity of data pipelines and systems.
* Champion data-driven decision-making and promote the effective use of data assets across the organization.

Job Qualifications**

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
* 8+ years of experience in data architecture, with at least 4 years focused on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
* Proven expertise in designing and implementing complex data solutions using a wide range of GCP services (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, Data Catalog).
* Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, data modeling (dimensional, relational, NoSQL), and data governance principles.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java for data processing and automation.
* Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data solutions.
* GCP Professional Data Engineer certification is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
