Position Summary...

As a Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack), you will develop high-performance, scalable applications supporting next-generation Supply Chain platforms, specifically Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS).

WFS enables third-party sellers to leverage Walmart’s supply chain infrastructure to fulfill customer orders placed on Walmart.com.

The platform is built on a microservices-based, event-driven architecture running in the public cloud and includes modern technologies across backend services, middleware, and a React-based frontend.

We are looking for curious, innovative engineers who are passionate about building scalable technology and solving complex distributed systems problems.

What you'll do...

Note: This role is based in Sunnyvale, CA and requires onsite presence three days per week. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position now or in the future.

What You'll Do

  • Demonstrate expertise in software engineering best practices and contribute to the development and improvement of engineering processes.
  • Lead medium to large-scale engineering projects from design through deployment.
  • Collaborate with architects, product managers, and engineering teams to design and build scalable products.
  • Design and implement highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems.
  • Deliver high-quality technical designs and production-ready code in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Build applications that meet performance, throughput, and SLA requirements.
  • Implement unit tests, code reviews, and documentation.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes across development, QA, and production environments.
  • Maintain production stability and monitoring, ensuring high system availability.
  • Troubleshoot production and business issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes.
  • Support business teams with investigation and analysis requests.
  • Contribute to and leverage open-source technologies.
  • Apply an AI-first development approach, leveraging AI tools and agents to accelerate development and automation.
  • Utilize agentic AI platforms for workflow automation, API orchestration, and enterprise integrations.

  • Design and develop highly scalable distributed systems.

  • Optimize frontend performance using tools like:

  • Integrate applications using event streaming platforms such as:
    • Kafka
    • JMS
  • Optimize application performance across CPU and memory usage.
  • Integrate services with cloud platforms including Azure and GCP.
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using:
    • Jenkins
    • Maven
  • Manage code using GitHub and project tools including:
    • Jira
    • Kanban
    • Confluence
  • Monitor applications using Splunk and Grafana.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field + 14 years experience, or
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field + 12 years experience
  • Experience building large-scale distributed systems
  • Strong frontend expertise with:
    • JavaScript
    • HTML5
    • CSS3
    • ReactJS / Redux
    • Angular
  • Experience with NodeJS and GraphQL
  • Experience developing reusable React components
  • Strong programming experience in Java or Scala
  • Experience building microservices architecture
  • Experience using Spring Boot
  • Experience with event streaming systems (Kafka, JMS)
  • Experience with SQL / NoSQL databases
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP)
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or Perl

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
