We are hiring a Global Technical Manager-UPW UV
The Global Technical Manager – UPW UV is responsible for leveraging deep expertise in ultraviolet (UV) technology and the Ultra‑Pure Water (UPW) industry to drive global growth across Xylem’s UV treatment portfolio. This role plays a critical part in expanding the combined UV business and may also support growth initiatives for complementary Xylem technologies used alongside UV systems.
In this position, the Global Technical Manager provides advanced technical support to sales activities, primarily focused on Total Organic Carbon (TOC) reduction and other UPW applications. The role is responsible for evaluating customer requirements for small to large‑scale projects, developing technically sound solutions, and performing system calculations using established engineering tools. This individual also serves as the primary point of contact for onsite troubleshooting, system optimization, and technical customer support.
This role requires consistent communication with both the sales organization and customers to ensure Xylem’s UV solutions achieve optimal performance. As UV technology is a core area of global leadership for Xylem, this position is essential to delivering best‑in‑class technical expertise. Additionally, the Global Technical Manager plays a key role in executing Xylem’s strategy for world‑class UPW validation programs, working cross‑functionally to implement, promote, and maintain validation schemes across global customer sites.
Responsibilities:
Develop Country and vertical based strategies to deliver growth including leading initiatives with Key stakeholders such as Product management, sales, marketing Inside sales within global UPW markets.
Continue to develop thought leadership pieces linked to the business and Industry focus in UPW.
Provide active technical support as needed to generate RFQs and tenders from customers.
Provide trainings to Xylem sales teams and customers globally on UPW applications and market to build capability locally
Support Xylem teams to get our products on the Approved Vendor Lists (AVLs)
Review tender and specification documents and find the right technical and commercial solution for the customer.
Select, price, and prepare the technical solution for the customer.
Provides technical support to the field sales team throughout the sales process including customer calls, site visits, proposals, and performance projections
Sizes and selects appropriate equipment/materials based on customer requirements and input from the sales team
Supports active programs to increase customer satisfaction. Can include, but not limited to customer satisfaction issues such as reliability issues, pricing, availability of product, spares/ product delivery, timely technical support on understanding operations of the plant etc. Acts as a conduit for feedback from the field to the factory and marketing team
Advises in disseminating standard product knowledge and provides virtual and in person training. Generally to, but not limited to OEM Sales teams, In House /service technicians, Process/ Design engineers , Re-sellers and installers.
Troubleshoots installation issues by working directly with customers and sales to gather information, analyze results, determine probable causes, and develop solutions if necessary
Works very closely to Global sales team for project designs, internal and external trainings, trouble shooting, product specification..etc
Maintain and develop relationships with Industrial customers in a pro-active technical support focused approach with local Xylem sales teams (by building up their capabilities, understanding of the market, types of conversations to have with the customers, etc.)
Follow-up performance of projects during execution to ensure client satisfaction
Provide input to product management and factories for continuous improvement on product gaps, factory quality improvements, etc.
Coordinate factory audits with EPCs, contractors, End Users and consultants as needed for Xylem products to be approved
Will need to be open to international travel for key projects and customers.
Interfaces of cooperation:
External: End users, OEM’s, Integrators, National governing bodies, Syndicates, Consultants.
Internal: Xylem commercial teams (sales personnel), country managing directors, procurement, R&D, factory plant managers, legal, finance, Product management, marketing, Inside sales (growth centre).
Requirements and competences:
10+ years of experience in the UV/UPW market or other Industrial markets.
Strong technical expertise and understanding of various types of UV and application specifically from an Industrial applications standpoint
Good commercial and business acumen
UPW process engineering background
Driven and ability to find solutions to complex technical and commercial problems
Sales growth and business development mindset
Structured and ability to manage complex projects
Strong technical skills and capabilities
Should be able to work across multiple countries
Strong english knowledge and communication skills
Ability to win trust of both internal and external customers
Ability to influence and drive change
Degree in Process engineering/chemical engineering or environmental engineering.
This is a remote role that can be based anywhere in the US, with Travel 25%-50%.
Salary:
The estimated salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 plus sales incentives. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
