Job Description:

Supply Planning Manager

Huntsman is seeking a Regional Supply Planning Manager supporting the Huntsman Advanced Materials (AdMat) Division located in San Jose, Costa Rica. This position will report to the AMERICAS Supply Chain Director.

Job Scope

Short-term horizon (0 to 3 months – S&OE): For his/her markets portfolio, ensure supply plans support global demand plans with the minimum inventory required.

Communicates to operations the supply needs to execute demand plan. Anticipate and inform proactively demand planners when supply can’t meet demand. Responsible for the inventory value at end of month and supports the inventory forecasting exercise for the next coming months.

Mid/Long-term horizon (3 to 24 months - IBP): Ensure long term supply plans can support demand plan and escalate when constraints are foreseen.

In addition to these technical aspects, the Supply Planning Manager role needs to coordinate her/his supply planning team and be able to communicate business requirements.


The Supply Planning Manager is a key Supply Chain contact person for other departments (Customer Service, Procurement, Operations, Finance and Commercial). Ability to solve problems and manage priorities is key.
Contact with customers and/or suppliers is expected.

In summary, as the Regional Supply Planning Manager, you will:

  • Own the global supply plan for her/his market’s portfolio

  • Align manufacturing and warehousing by creating a supply network plan that provides clarity and alignment across supply-related functions

  • Ensure inventory is distributed efficiently along the global network, in agreement with the regional demand planner

  • Highlight whenever supply cannot meet demand to the demand planner and provide alternatives

  • Deal with different sources of supply (manufacturing sites, procurement) and ensure supply plan is accurate and regularly updated to show properly volumes to be supplied on a 24m horizon

Inventory:

  • Own the inventory of her/his market’s portfolio across the global network

  • Ensure inventory is used in the most profitable way for the company

  • Highlight whenever inventory can be used in a more profitable way than the agreed demand plan

  • Regularly check slow-moving items and propose mitigation action plans

  • Ultimately give projection for the next 24m horizon of her/his market’s portfolio across the global network

Blocked stock & returns:

  • Ensure blocked stock of her/his portfolio gets treated in a rapid manner (dispose, rework, sell back)

  • Support Customer Service on the return process and advise best solution for returned goods

Management aspects:

  • Manage the supply planning team

  • Assign tasks and targets to the supply planners, according to the regional objectives

  • Close collaboration with the GBS organization as well as with the rest of the Americas organization, in particular Supply Chain leadership team

Special Features:

  • Support on MD (NPI extension, lead time adjustment together with logistics)

  • Business project involvement

  • Network and establish strong coordinative role within regional AdMat SC teams

  • Provide back-up support to regional supply planning team

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.

Candidates must be willing to work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at our office located in AFZ, Heredia. Additional office days may be required as needed or during corporate visits.

Minimum Qualifications

Education required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent either in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering

Experience required:

  • Five years of professional experience in the field of supply and/or production planning, optimally in chemicals

  • Commercial exposure, proven track record in supply planning / production planning

  • Understanding of demand planning

  • Balancing of commercial priorities and operational capabilities

  • Strong knowledge of inventory management

  • Excellent and proactive communicator, connecting demand with supply side

  • High focus on data and metrics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Language skills: Fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese a plus

  • APICS or SCOR experience and SC knowledge required

  • SAP / ERP software process knowledge advantage

  • Knowledge and experience on S&OP or IBP processes beneficial
