The Role

FL97 is seeking a dedicated and skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team. The role will focus on managing the procurement process to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services, particularly in the life and physical sciences sectors. The Procurement Specialist will play a key role in building strong relationships with vendors, negotiating contracts, and supporting the R&D and lab operations teams with their procurement needs. While reporting to Finance, the ideal candidate will work closely with the Lab Operations Manager to ensure all materials and supplies are procured efficiently and align with project requirements. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Identify and diligence suppliers that could meet R&D needs  
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure high-quality, cost-effective procurement of goods and services. 
  • Negotiate favorable pricing, payment terms, and contracts to optimize supply chain efficiency. 
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, pricing, and regulatory compliance. 
  • Manage purchase orders from creation to completion, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and budget adherence. 
  • Monitor order fulfillment and delivery schedules to prevent delays and supply chain disruptions. 
  • Conduct cost analysis for products and services to identify savings opportunities and optimize procurement efficiency. 
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing standards. 
  • Work closely with R&D scientists, lab operations, platform automation, hardware, and software teams to support project requirements. 
  • Monitor inventory levels and implement strategies to streamline the supply chain, reduce lead times, and improve efficiency. 
  • Foster long-term strategic partnerships with key vendors to support future growth and innovation. 
  • Support Buy vs. Lease and Make vs. Buy decision making.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or purchasing, preferably in the life or physical sciences sector. 
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms with suppliers. 
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for effective vendor management. 
  • Solid understanding of procurement processes, purchase and lease contract structure, inventory management, and cost analysis. 
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to procurement in scientific industries. 
  • Must be proficient with Jira and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). 
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
