Your role:

We’re looking for a highly organized, dedicated, and diligent Payroll Supervisor to join our Finance & Accounting team to supervise our payroll initiatives and the global growth of our fast-paced SaaS company. This role will be based in our Vancouver office and will report to the Manager, Accounting Operations.

The Payroll Supervisor will play a key role in supervising the payroll team in the day-to-day operational and financial activities as it relates to payroll processing and maintenance for our global operations.

Your job:

  • Lead, mentor, and assist with providing supervision and guidance to the Payroll team
  • Conduct detailed review and oversight on payroll processing for ~1,500+ global employees
  • Coordinate the review of payroll by Manager, Accounting Operations and Senior Manager, Finance and Accounting and address queries on a timely basis in order to submit final payroll on schedule for all countries
  • Review the financial reconciliation and analysis for all employee benefit programs for employee withholdings, tax, and financial reporting purposes
  • Review submission of pension information to the pension provider on a timely basis each month
  • Review annual year end payroll documentation, including but not limited to Canadian T4s, US W2s, and UK P60s
  • Oversee and ensure completeness and accuracy of payroll and benefit records on an ongoing basis
  • Review cost centers and post payroll journal entries prepared by the Payroll team on a semi-monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Review and oversee the timely submission of government reporting and remittance requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll information and documents at all times
  • Liaise between Human Resources and Finance to ensure company policies are implemented and adhered to appropriately to address current employment legislation
  • Act as a resource and provide support to the Payroll team in addressing global payroll inquiries from employees and managers, providing responses on a timely basis
  • Understand current payroll legislation and requirements and keep informed of any pending changes in the countries in which Global Relay operates
  • Research applicable tax treatments as it relates to payroll, benefits, and pension in the countries in which Global Relay operates
  • Assist in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of operating procedures and best practices for all payroll processes, alongside the Human Resources team, looking for areas of streamlining and automation wherever possible
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll inputs for annual corporate tax filings and tax incentive programs such as the Canadian Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program and the UK Research and Development Expenditure Credit (RDEC) program
  • Assist in providing variance analysis for payroll and other finance matters, as required
  • Assist in other ad hoc departmental projects, as required

About you:

  • Minimum 5 years of applicable payroll experience with comprehensive knowledge of Canadian and US payroll regulations
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in a growing, high-tech environment is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and US statutory regulations
  • Knowledge of UK, Swiss, Swedish or Australian payroll not required, but would be an asset
  • A diploma or degree in business administration or related field, with some Accounting courses; PCP or CPM designation preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high attention to detail
  • Ability to be professional and exercise tact and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Exceptional adaptability, organizational, and self-management skills
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize a dynamic list of work on a day-to-day basis
  • Strong sense of deadlines and ownership of work
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and ability to write clear, concise and formal business communications
  • Willingness to learn about and research payroll rules and regulations of additional jurisdictions on an as-needed basis
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Familiarity with the NetSuite ERP system and cloud-based accounting applications is an asset

Compensation:
Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in accordance with the pay transparency laws of the province of British Columbia. In addition to the annual base salary (range listed below), compensation for this role also includes a corporate bonus, extended health benefits, and RRSP Matching, and (for applicable Sales roles) an enticing commission structure.

British Columbia - Base Salary Range:
$75,000$95,000 CAD
