Job Description:

The position is for School of Public Health.  The position will be responsible to manage efforts in the Community Engagement Core of the newly established Climate, Health, and Aging Innovation and Research Solutions for Communities center working in a diverse community. The incumbent will work closely with the Core Lead to manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of community engagement.  The Project Manager manages and facilitates communication, information exchange, and workflow among internal and external research team members and collaborators, and documents, distributes, and archives work products; contributes to quality assurance of data and work products and provides text and graphical content as requested for manuscripts and presentations; works with team to develop study protocols; at future point in time, may coordinate, supervise, and track the recruitment and participation of research subjects;  assures compliance with requirements of human subjects research review committees, data granting agencies, and funding agencies; and manages vendor services. This position regularly deals with human subject and other confidential materials, and often requires independent judgment and action.  This position monitors financial projections to guide spending decisions and financial management of projects as well as completes expense and reimbursement requests and is responsible for the team purchasing card. This position tracks grant/project progress and completes non-scientific portions of paperwork and reports to submit to the admin team.

Education and Experience

Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, Master’s degree, preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Grant project management, preferably in an academic/medical research environment.
  • Preferred history of overseeing community partnerships.
  • Conversant in RI health priorities and current events.
  • Experience in gerontology preferred.
  • Experience in qualitative research preferred.

Job Competencies:

  • Knowledge of research design, sampling, and data management.
  • Understanding of human subjects research ethics and requirements.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
  • Understand how long-term investments in infrastructure building with community organizations can elevate the voices of underserved communities in the scientific enterprise.
  • Willing and able to work with diverse individual, research, and government partners.
  • Deep appreciation for cultural diversity and ability to work with many diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Proficiency with teleconferencing software (e.g., Zoom) and interacting with remote colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Precise attention to detail and exemplary organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently, and as a research team member.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in the management of complex projects.
  • Professionalism in interaction with collaborators and research participants.
  • Spanish proficiency, a plus
