The Job/What You'll Do:
The Vice President of Billing is responsible for the strategic direction, performance, and long‑term transformation of AssetMark’s billing organization. This leader oversees all aspects of the firm’s billing operations, including pricing and fee governance, billing execution, revenue accuracy, advisor compensation, operational controls, and the systems that support these functions.
As the leader accountable for end‑to‑end billing outcomes, the VP sets the vision for scalable, technology‑enabled processes, establishes operational standards, drives innovation, and ensures that the billing function supports AssetMark’s strategic priorities and growth. This role has firm‑wide impact and requires a combination of industry expertise, operational excellence, executive leadership, and the ability to navigate complexity at scale.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Establish long‑term vision and strategy for the billing function aligned with firm goals and growth strategy.
Drive enterprise‑level data governance and quality standards for billing, revenue, and payment data, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and trust across all internal and external stakeholders.
Execute the multi‑year billing systems and process roadmap in partnership with Wealth Solution, ProdEng, and Finance.
Partner with the COO and CPTO to craft compelling performance and scalability narratives across the business.
Operational Ownership
Lead enterprise billing execution on Redi2 (or comparable platforms), ensuring timely, accurate billing, advisor payouts, reconciliations, reporting, and a consistently high‑quality client and advisor experience.
Provide leadership across pricing governance, fee structures, reconciliations, reporting, and advisor payments.
Ensure strong billing controls, auditability, and compliance with internal policy and regulatory standards.
Lead the development of scalable, automated processes that support growth, reduce operational risk, and improve performance.
Foster a culture of process excellence, innovation and data-driven decision making within the billing operations process.
Metrics and Performance Management
Define, manage, and report on key performance metrics such as SLA adherence, advisor satisfaction, and team engagement.
Ensure strict discipline in cases and queue management across the function.
Use data and analytics to evaluate trends, identify risks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross‑Functional and External Partnerships
Serve as a senior strategic partner to Finance, Wealth Solution, ProdEng, Legal, Compliance, Trading, Reporting, and Advisor Services.
Oversee key vendor and custodian relationships (Redi2, Fidelity, Schwab, Pershing) including senior‑level interactions, escalations, and quarterly business reviews.
Represent the billing function in enterprise‑level forums and external discussions.
Team Leadership and Development
Oversee a diverse leadership structure including a Director, Managers, Leads, and Staff; develop leaders of leaders and build succession depth.
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, inclusion, and engagement; set clear goals, coach for performance, and recognize outcomes.
Plan workforce capacity to support growth and peak cycles; align structure, roles, and career paths to scale efficiently.
Change Management & M&A
Lead transformational initiatives including system migrations and process modernization.
Ensure successful adoption of new tools, technologies, and processes with minimal disruption.
Act as a culture carrier who inspires clarity, accountability, and confidence during periods of change.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, or related field.
12–15+ years in billing, revenue operations, or financial operations within financial services or other regulated industries.
6–10+ years of progressive leadership, including leading senior managers and multi-functional teams.
Deep expertise with enterprise billing platforms; experience with Redi2 strongly preferred or comparable advisory billing systems.
Working knowledge of revenue recognition and fee billing in advisory/wealth contexts and internal control frameworks.
Proven track record delivering system modernization, automation, and data quality improvements across complex environments.
Exceptional executive communication, stakeholder management, and vendor/custodian management skills.
Analytical, metrics-driven leader with demonstrated KPI design and performance management discipline.
Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $185,000 and $205,000. This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
