The Production Planning Manager’s main mandate is to build and execute an effective production plan and schedule to meet demand, and to achieve superior customer service at optimal cost.

What’s involved in this role

  • Work in close collaboration with the other functions including S&OP, Logistics and Operations.
  • Own and develop the Don Mills production plan and schedule to drive service levels above defined target at the lowest possible cost for our cooperative.
  • Execute the short and mid term production plan, adjust to the business and supply volatilities and coordinate the action planning to meet relevant supply KPIs.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and apply AOS techniques to improve production planning and performance
  • Lead and be accountable for the production planning activities as part of the integrated business planning process (IBP).
  • Develop, implement and champion a set of production planning and scheduling rules to ensure optimal performance
  • Manage short term and long-term manufacturing capacity and contribute to the review of the Capacity to Demand ratio.
  • Collaborate with S&OP to develop and share long term visibility on capacity utilization and propose production unit optimization plans to enhance production volume at optimal cost.
  • Represents Don Mills for new product development, on cross functional launch teams and ensure proper plans are created to support the launch and minimize liabilities.
  • Identify and pilot digital transformation technologies to improve production planning processes
  • Be an ambassador and deploy the continuous improvement methodology of the cooperative.
  • Develop an engaged and performing team.

What you need to join our team

  • 5-7 years in a Supply and Production Planning role or similarly related experience within Supply Chain Planning (Demand Planning, Master Production Scheduling, Production Planning etc.) in a CPG environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or a related field
  • Strong problem solving as well as strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to benchmark best practices and drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, production planning and inventory management methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are also essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the supply planning process.
  • Good change management skills in terms of adopting and leveraging tools and technology
  • Proven ability to successfully operate in a fast paced, demanding environment
  • Proven ability to develop and build high performing teams and strong cross-functional stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to lead and influence others
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
