Job Summary 

RISD Continuing Education seeks an Operations Coordinator to support programming and operations for on-campus summer teen courses. This role works closely with the Youth Program Manager and CE Operations to ensure a smooth and successful program experience for students and instructors alike. 

The individual in this position will be the primary point of contact on-site for students, families, and teaching staff. They will be responsible for preparing instructional spaces and supplies in accordance with individual course needs. In collaboration with our student support and program staff, they will respond to, and work to resolve, daily student and instructor inquiries and needs. Overall, this role serves as a welcoming and familiar presence in the teen space. .

Term: June 15, 2026 - August 14, 2026

Essential Functions

  • Pre-program preparation: order supplies, prepare classrooms and assemble course materials

  • Monitor and restock  classroom supplies for the duration of the program 

  • Monitor, restock, and organize the communal supply closet and work room 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for student, instructor, and TA questions. 

  • Take attendance daily and follow up on student absences. 

  • Respond to inquiries from students and families made in person, by phone or email

  • Provide in-classroom support or coverage as needed. 

  • Log all behavioral and first aid incidents using RISD’s incident reporting platform, and respond according to CE’s emergency protocols 

  • Report all classroom and equipment maintenance needs to CE or facilities staff as appropriate

  • Warmly greet students and families upon arrival and provide wayfinding assistance as needed Actively monitor and respond to internal and external communications via phone, email, and Slack 

  • Coordinate with campus partners and Program Manager in real time to address any specific issues (eg. facilities, technology, custodial)

  • Coordinate on-site program breakdown and reset of classrooms and course materials

  • Provide feedback in debrief meetings. 

  • Attend and staff Pre-College Check-In Day (Saturday) to assist students and their families upon arrival.

  • Provide daily updates to the Program Manager and, as needed, Operations staff

  • Support the Pre-College and additional CE teams, as needed, with room setup or other tasks as needed.

  • Support adjacent custom program classes

Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience 

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 

  • Prior experience working with children or teens in a professional setting

  • Proficiency with technology required, with preference given to experience with Google Workspace

  • Must be innovative and solution-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse population of students, instructors, and staff. 

  • Please note that this role may include physically moving items from one building to another and/or frequently walking around campus based on daily needs and program requests. 

  • Creativity, flexibility, and personal warmth are essential. 

  • Must be available to work full length of contract
