Engineering Lead - Fintech Billing Group

We’re looking to add an Engineering Lead to our fintech billing group. This person will be hands-on (at least 50% of the time) and close to the code while also having the opportunity to grow successful direct reports and run productive teams. The Engineering Lead oversees a small family of teams and provides technical, product, and team-level leadership to those teams.

The billing group in fintech is responsible for all the orchestration and business needs that happen after a customer has gone through the buying motion for our products. The EL will lead a group of teams focused on our financial systems, which is critical for Hubspot to ensure we report revenue accurately. You will help lead and improve our financial systems to scale proportionally to HubSpot's growth and design/implement new features.

In this role, the teams you lead will:

  • Participate in technical design and execution to build financial solutions of varying scope and complexity
  • Work closely with our finance stakeholders and business system analysts to ensure we are solving problems that scale
  • Understand how the 3rd party tools we integrate with to meet our business needs fits into the HubSpot ecosystem in the long term.
  • Architect and build a reliable and secure financial system for stakeholders

Key Expectations Engineering Leads:

  • Engineering Leads are actively involved as a player-coach and manager in building software and making products to solve customer problems. They are curious and involved in the technology as well as the people on their teams. They continue to grow as technologists while in role and should continue to TL one team to have a place to drive technical growth.
  • They coach their engineers and TLs and build productive, autonomous, and healthy teams. They focus on setting up their teams to grow more autonomous over time.
  • They have a strong technical vision for how to implement the product vision. This can include working with teams they oversee and external teams to ensure that we are solving problems the best way for internal customers.
  • They think about and implement ideas to push teams to improve technically.
  • They are responsible for the engineers on their team and provide mentoring, coaching, and feedback for the engineers to help them grow and succeed in their role.
  • They hold a high performance bar for their team.
  • They create and foster diverse teams and an inclusive culture.
