We are seeking an experienced and purpose-driven Program Manager to lead and coordinate delivery of Elsevier’s Research Integrity & Publishing Ethics program across STMJ Publishing. This role is pivotal in ensuring cohesive, strategic delivery of initiatives that uphold Elsevier’s reputation, support researchers, and strengthen trust in scholarly publishing.
The successful candidate will act as the outcome owner, driving initiatives that embed ethics and integrity throughout our publishing processes. You’ll ensure that projects are aligned with Elsevier’s objectives, stakeholders are fully engaged, and measurable progress is achieved across all areas of the program.
• Translate Elsevier’s Research Integrity & Publishing Ethics strategy into a coordinated program of initiatives with clear milestones and success measures.
• Ensure that initiatives enhance trust, transparency, and integrity in STMJ’s publishing processes while contributing to Elsevier’s wider goals.
• Build and maintain a cohesive delivery roadmap that integrates policy, operations, technology, and community engagement.
• Partner with key stakeholders across the Research Integrity & Publish Ethics, publishing, technology, journal operations, and legal teams, and third party partners to define program objectives and KPIs.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, ensuring transparency, alignment, and consistent communication.
• Facilitate clarity and decision-making to keep the program on track and stakeholders engaged.
• Co-ordinate multiple workstreams (e.g., policy development, technology solutions, editorial practices, researcher engagement) to deliver integrated outcomes.
• Ensure initiatives are scalable, sustainable, and embedded into Elsevier’s publishing ecosystem.
• Champion agile delivery practices and ensure effective governance, risk management, and reporting.
• Anticipate risks and dependencies across teams, proactively implementing solutions and mitigation strategies.
• Manage budgets, resources, and timelines with a focus on achieving measurable impact rather than activity alone.
• Promote best practices in ethics program management, change management, and publishing integrity.
• Drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous learning.
• Mentor and support colleagues to build capability in ethics and program management.
• Proven experience managing large-scale programs or portfolios in publishing, research, or adjacent sectors.
• Deep understanding of ethics, integrity, and compliance issues in academic publishing or research.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across diverse groups.
• Excellent strategic, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities.
• Proven ability to lead change and deliver outcomes in complex, matrixed organisations.
• Background in agile or hybrid delivery methodologies, with experience in governance and reporting.
• Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms is an advantage.
• Help shape the future of trust and integrity in scientific publishing.
• Work in a global, mission-driven organisation committed to advancing science and research.
• Join a flexible, inclusive culture with strong commitments to wellbeing and development.
