Job Purpose 

The CED “Regional Sales Representative” is responsible for sales growth of CED products through the Home Center Channel, Hardware & Rental Channels, and Catalog Sales. Responsible for driving sales growth of existing accounts and establishing new distribution as required in an assigned geographic area.

  • Product knowledge and training for distribution channel personnel, paint company representatives, store service personnel and others as required.
  • Develop sales to end-users by conducting store clinics, attending contractor events etc.

  • Effective account management in key markets or stores, and at divisional or corporate level as required.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for overall management and development of assigned accounts and developing new distribution outlets as needed to support business growth goals.
  • Calling on and developing a good working relationship with key divisional, regional and corporate account personnel for distribution channel, in-store service organizations and key material suppliers to channel.
  • Work with District and store level service personnel to ensure merchandising execution and accurate inventory throughout assigned geographic territory. This includes both in-person and “virtual” store walks.
  • Maintain and grow sales in assigned accounts.
  • Determine market potential within assigned area.  Focus sales efforts on developing business in major markets at highest potential accounts / store locations. 
  • On-going key account activities include: monitoring store inventories, driving store orders, setting up and maintaining store displays, continuous training of store personnel through informal product knowledge sessions and continuous development of working relationships with store manager and store personnel. 
  • Oversee / monitor merchandising and displays of existing product line, new product rollouts and new store set-ups.  Work closely with service group management to ensure sound execution.
  • Conduct formal product knowledge seminars for home store channel personnel.
  • Keep key store personnel and distribution channel management updated on new product information, promotions and product features and benefits. 
  • Identify issues that may affect sales growth and makes suggestions to appropriate Graco marketing, National Account Managers or sales manager. 
  • Implement marketing programs as required.
  • Maintain demo equipment and expense accounts within defined limits. 
  • Submit timely and complete activity reports through Sales Force CRM.
  • Submit timely expense reports. 
  • Conduct in-store demonstrations on products, applications and seminars to educate end-users.
  • Provide product service training and sales support for independent service centers on home center products. 
  • Develop territory plan as required Sales Manager.
  • Identify, establish and maintain a network of independent service centers within the defined territory to service customer base. 
  • Act as field focal point for marketing communication to the field sales force, provide competitive information, input for new product /program development, end-user needs, field tests and other significant areas. 
  • Complete special assignments related to new product introductions, market development, distribution evaluation and other areas as required. 
  • Sets the standard for professionalism for Graco's field sales force and serve as a positive example of production and ethical standards. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, marketing or equivalent.
  • 2 - 3 years outside sales experience in painting product markets or home center/hardware distribution.
  • Effective training and coaching skills.
  • Effective oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively at all organizational levels, both internal and external.
  • Evidence of leadership and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Proven ability to work successfully without close supervision.
  • Evidence of in-depth understanding of the marketplace and competition.
  • Basic computer competency; familiar with Microsoft Office, Power Point or equivalent.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Experience using Sales Force or comparable CRM

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Graco product knowledge or experience with painting equipment.
  • Experience in providing work direction.
  • Demonstrated success in outside sales calling on home center, hardware or retail.
  • Sales training experience.
