Job Summary
The Service Automation Engineer (L2) will support the design, configuration, and enhancement of service automation and monitoring solutions using Splunk and ITRS Geneos. The role involves building dashboards, alerts, automation scripts, and monitoring configurations to ensure high availability and performance of enterprise systems. The engineer will collaborate with operations, infrastructure, and application teams to improve observability, automate manual tasks, and strengthen monitoring coverage across Unix/Linux environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure, manage, and optimize Splunk dashboards, alerts, searches, and data onboarding.
• Design, develop, and maintain ITRS Geneos Gateway configurations, rules, and monitoring templates.
• Implement monitoring automation, including threshold tuning, alert optimization, and KPI tracking.
• Develop scripts in Python and Shell to automate repetitive operational tasks and data processing.
• Work with stakeholders to analyze monitoring requirements and translate them into actionable configurations.
• Troubleshoot monitoring issues, perform root-cause analysis, and ensure timely resolution.
• Support performance monitoring, log analysis, and event correlation activities.
• Assist in expanding observability capabilities across Unix/Linux platforms.
• Maintain documentation, operational runbooks, and monitoring configuration guidelines.

Required Skills:

• Hands-on experience with Splunk (monitoring, performance dashboards, alerting, searches)
• Experience in ITRS Geneos Gateway Configuration (rules, samplers, dataviews, probes)
• Python programming
• Unix/Linux Shell scripting
• Strong understanding of monitoring, alerting, and observability concepts

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Knowledge of automation frameworks or Ops tools
• Understanding of performance engineering or capacity planning
• Experience integrating Splunk/Geneos with CI/CD pipeline
• Exposure to event correlation or AIOps tools
• Familiarity with enterprise application or infrastructure operations
