Position Overview
Supports and assists with the planning and scheduling of production for plant products. Monitors and maintains inventories of raw material/packaging material to match planned production. Covers the Production Planning Supervisor duties in his/her absence.
What you’ll do:
- Prepares schedules for relevant production lines to meet customer delivery requirements and to best utilize the unit’s production capacity. Performs as the primary planner for the powdered laundry detergent lines.
- Assists in creating a master schedule to establish production sequence and lead times of each packaging operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
- Expedites raw materials that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen circumstances.
- Reviews customer demand to support establishing priorities while striving to minimize duplicate packaging machinery set-ups.
- Converts requisitions in the SAP MRP system to purchase orders for all raw and packaging materials, factoring in lead times and production requirements. Releases purchase orders for production material to support manufacturing.
- Distributes new and updated production schedules to packaging and operations supervision as well as the on-call supervisor, as necessary.
- Uses all available SAP tools and best practices to optimize the scheduling process and ensure accuracy across all raw/packaging inventory.
- Collaborates with the raw material unloader on due dates, delayed orders and staging of materials.
- Monitors work in process on production floor to determine if adjustments to production schedule are needed.
- Interfaces with manufacturing personnel and supervision on material status and production planning issues.
- May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned by the Production Planning Supervisor.
What you’ll need:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
- Computer literacy with expertise in Microsoft Office as applied to scheduling and data management. SAP experience is highly desired.
- Excellent organizational/time management skills, detail oriented, strong communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and multitask in a fast-paced environment, calm under pressure and flexibility to adapt to changing schedules as appropriate.
- Regularly required to sit or stand and move about the facility.
- Occasional exposure to facility elements such as noise, dust, or odors
- Position requires regular and predictable attendance.
- An Associates/Bachelor degree in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management or business-relevant major is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with a food safety program and basic HACCP principles is preferred
