About the role

As Controller you’ll be managing our team of 2 accountants and be responsible for the accounting and finance functions of Woflow. You will work closely with the CEO in assisting with important financial decisions, financial reporting as well as ad-hoc financial and operational requests.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include overseeing all accounting entries, billing and month/quarter end reporting, including MoM trend analysis and KPI monitoring. You will be working closely with senior management in preparing quarterly board materials and reporting (to investors and banks etc.). The ideal candidate is highly analytical, dependable, thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and can collaborate cross-functionally.

In this role you'll gain a unique insight into the Woflow product lines as well as the complexities of our industry and the industries of our customers (food delivery, POS, eCommerce, etc.). You’ll also get to play a lead role in refining our internal processes and bringing the Woflow vision to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and process monthly accounting entries for various business transactions including billing, labor payouts and accruals

  • Prepare/review monthly account reconciliations and reporting schedules, providing commentary and variance analysis

  • Manage the accounting team, currently 2 direct reports

  • Assist management with financials for monthly and quarterly board meetings and investor updates

  • Assist leadership with Woflow’s financial model

  • Prepare annual accounts (currently unaudited), assist with tax filings and ensure all financial calendar responsibilities are met (1099s, Delaware Franchise filings, California SOI etc)

  • Participate in process improvements to streamline the monthly financial close process

  • Proactively identify issues and assist in optimizing systems, upgrades, and automation of accounting processes

  • Assist in development and implementation of new policies and procedures

  • Assist with financial due diligence when applicable

  • Document and monitor internal controls as part of operational accounting work

  • Assist with ad-hoc projects

You are:

  • Well versed in full-cycle accounting and US GAAP requirements

  • CPA with 3+ years experience at a Big 4 Accounting Firm or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years experience managing direct reports

  • Bonus: experience implementing and scaling accounting processes at a startup

  • Ability to work alongside data scientists and engineers

  • Strong quantitative analysis skills

  • Strong experience with financial software (e.g., Xero, Quickbooks or similar)

  • An Excel grandmaster

  • Process-minded: you improve upon inefficient processes
