The Opportunity
We are currently on the lookout for an Associate Technical Lead – DevOps to join our team.
Responsibilities:
Taking responsibility for deployment, configuration and support of DataDog Platform and all other enterprise monitoring tools and systems within Sysco corporation
Providing thought leadership to develop monitoring best practices and preferred methods
Working closely with internal teams and stakeholders to identify service dependencies and KPIs
Working closely with Incident Management team and facilitate the use of the monitoring and performance systems in incident response
Ensuring thorough capacity, health, and security monitoring is present at every layer of the platform and application stack
Focusing on the delivery of prescriptive/automated monitoring for all critical systems and services
Helping the transformation of reactive monitoring to proactive monitoring
Working in highly virtualized public and private cloud environments as well as legacy computing systems
Utilizing ITIL concepts and how to apply them effectively in the enterprise
Thinking “Enterprise” and understand that every delivered solution must be consistent, redundant, standards compliant, well monitored, and thoroughly documented
Being part of a global team and work collaboratively with engineers across various time zones
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, 4+ years of enterprise monitoring, systems engineering, and/or DevOps experience in a customer facing/supporting SaaS environment or Similar Practices
Experience with both ITIL and DevOps practices
DevOps skillset with emphasis on Bash, Python, and Powershell scripting
Proficiency in monitoring and observability tools and technologies, including: APM – DataDog, Application Insights, Dynatrace, Uptrends; NMS - Icinga2, Nagios, SentryOne, SolarWinds, Veeam One, Zabbix; Logging - Graylog, ElastiSearch, Splunk, Syslog(-ng)
Sound knowledge and experience in Windows server / UNIX platforms, computer networks including LAN/WAN, DHCP, TCP/IP, Firewalls, and Routing
Proven ability to learn and grow through self-study
Hands-on experience designing, developing, testing and troubleshooting DevOps tools in production systems
The ability to adhere to engineering standards and best practices; must be process-oriented
Must possess strong communication skills – reading & comprehending documents/specifications, producing clear and thorough documentation, and have the ability to discuss and explain technical issues during meetings
Desire to learn and develop all necessary technical skills
