Role: Equipment Finance Manager
This role would lead the finance function for the Equipment portfolio in the region for Export projects and other requirements related to India Project. This role reports functionally to Director Finance and works closely with the GM of Equipment – India and Sr. Director Global FP&A of Freight – Equipment.
Job Description
Responsible for recording Cost, Revenue & Billing for the Equipment projects in the region and own the closing & reporting function for the segment
Conduct Contract Margin Reviews, costing analysis, related billing. Ensure revenue recognition, cash, billing and AR deliverables are compliant with financial regulations
Gain and maintain deep understanding of the business unit’s financial health and key drivers. Active engagement in preparation and participation for various reviews
Measure the performance in all areas of the organization- mfg. engineering, supply chain which impacts Equipment business
Analyze the performance and propose action plans to improve profitability and cash generation as well as corrective action plans as needed.
Develop accurate and predictable operating plans, forecasts, reviews & Blueprints & drive estimates/pacing
Own Cash Forecasting rigors across the business segment, maintain optimal cash positions and support Treasury processes in the region
Participate in business deal reviews and keep senior management advised of material risk and opportunities and ensure operational coordination
Drive financial performance improvement initiatives throughout business (cost reduction, asset management, capital efficiency, productivity, etc.) … Recommend and influence needed actions to maximize cash and profitability
Ensure compliance with corporate accounting practices and procedures and internal controls. Lead the pursuit of excellence in Controllership (e.g., adherence to Wabtec policies, benchmarking best practices, internal controls, etc.)
Effective communication with other functional areas required. Influences peers to meet objectives.
Develops additional approaches outside of procedures. Focus on department priorities within operating unit.
knowledge of Customs, GST and Export Control regulations with regards to Exports will be a plus.
Support cost out projects related to India Program and drive the results to deliver margin at program level by partnering with Sourcing, Supply chain, Engineering and Program team.
Support analytics around key cost metrics to enable visibility of productivity ideas and cost optimization by monitoring common cost patterns across various Loco projects in India and drive efficiency from volume increases.
Lead COPQ monitoring effort and ensure recoverability from vendors at project level.
Execute cost mitigation plans to ensure program margin by effectively tracking ACO for various Loco programs and collaborate with GSC, Tax, Customs and other related functions to ensure right cost bucketizing for appropriate reporting.
Collaborate for deal models preparation for new opportunities and track end-to-end progress.
Support STRAP Planning for Equipment Business in India and any other related asks for short-term and long-term business planning objectives.
Qualifications / Requirements
Master’s degree from an accredited university or college / Chartered Accountant Qualification
A minimum of 6+ years of finance, accounting, or audit experience
Desired Characteristics
Prior experience managing a multi-functional Finance organization is preferred
Ability to work under tight deadlines and to prioritize under pressure
Strategic thinker with the ability to create and execute concrete action plans
Strong analytical, project management, and organizational skills
