Job Summary:

The UMMC School of Dentistry is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual for an open rank faculty position, supporting the undergraduate education and clinical training venues with the School of Dentistry. This faculty role involves maintaining the highest academic standards, supporting student success, and contributing to the ongoing development and delivery of the School of Dentistry curriculum. The ideal candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, aligning with the mission and values of UMMC.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

DDS/DMD from a CODA-accredited dental program or an equivalent foreign degree

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:

Current MS Dental license or must be obtained post-hire within 90 days

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the didactic and/or clinical instruction of dental students

Active involvement in professional organizations

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proven experience working in the dental field. Demonstrated skills in both traditional classroom teaching and online learning environments. Ability to interpret and use student learning outcome data to enhance teaching and learning.
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Knowledge of current trends in the dental field and a commitment to remaining informed of advancements in the field. Proficiency in
word processing programs and internet applications. Commitment to the School of Dentistry’s mission of excellence in patient care, teaching, research, and service.


Responsibilities:

  • Teaching: Develop and deliver course content according to approved syllabi. Teach assigned classes as scheduled and ensure excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Student Assessment: Regularly assess student academic achievement and adjust teaching techniques based on feedback and best practices in education.
  • Curriculum Development: Participate in the creation, evaluation, and improvement of the department curriculum based on student learning outcomes and current industry trends.
  • Reporting: Submit attendance, grades, and other documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Meetings & Collaboration: Attend department meetings and contribute to program goals, curriculum review, and discussions on improving teaching methods and student outcomes.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with trends in the dental field and teaching methodologies by attending relevant professional development activities.
  • Service: Participate in college and community service, including serving on committees and contributing to the broader mission of the School of Dentistry.
  • Leadership: Exhibit professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to fostering a learning environment that promotes student growth and academic success.
  • Administrative Duties: Report to the Department Chair and communicate regularly on goals and objectives.
  • Clinical Duties: Delivering care to patients within the School of Dentistry’s University Dentists faculty practice, ensuring high-quality treatment and maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
