The Credit Strategy & Analytics function plays a pivotal role in shaping how we develop, optimise and deliver credit strategies across Business Banking.

The team combines macroeconomic insight, portfolio analytics, commercial judgement and technology-enabled decisioning to create simpler, faster and more consistent lending experiences for our customers and banking colleagues. We partner across stakeholder communities to design, monitor and evolve credit strategies, scorecards, policies and decisioning frameworks for Business Banking products.

Your Impact and Contribution

As a Senior Manager, Credit Strategy & Lending Transformation, you will play a key leadership role in shaping how Business Banking credit is designed, delivered and transformed, with a strong focus on responsible lending, process optimisation and next-generation credit decisioning automation.

This highly multi-faceted role sits at the intersection of credit strategy, data analytics, decision science, technology and transformation. You will act as a subject matter expert, translating macroeconomic trends, portfolio performance, customer behaviour and qualitative business insights into practical lending strategies, scorecard settings, decisioning rules and recommendations that can be implemented by Line 1 Business Banking teams.

You will also lead the credit strategy workstream for major Business Banking lending transformation initiatives, shaping the roadmap, translating business and credit requirements into delivery outcomes, and partnering with product, data, technology and delivery teams to implement new decisioning capability. Your work will help deliver simpler, faster and more consistent lending experiences for customers and colleagues. In this role, you may expect to:

  • Translate macroeconomic data, external market signals, portfolio performance and qualitative business insights into practical credit strategies, decisioning recommendations and Line 1 actions.
  • Develop, calibrate and optimise scorecards, decisioning rules, referral triggers, policy settings and automated lending strategies.
  • Lead the credit strategy workstream for major Business Banking lending transformation initiatives, including roadmap development, stakeholder engagement, delivery planning, implementation and benefits realisation.
  • Partner with Business Banking Line 1, product, data, technology and delivery teams to roll out strategy changes and embed credit strategy into systems, workflows and automated decisioning platforms.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess how macroeconomic, industry and customer trends may affect lending appetite, portfolio performance and customer segments.
  • Translate complex analytical concepts into clear, commercially focused recommendations, using data storytelling, structured logic and sound commercial judgement to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships across Business Banking, data, analytics, product and technology teams to deliver aligned, enterprise-wide outcomes.
  • Coach and mentor team members, uplifting capability across credit strategy, analytics, scorecard development and transformation delivery.

Your Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in credit strategy, business lending transformation and data-led decisioning within financial services. You will be confident translating macroeconomic signals, portfolio performance, customer insights and qualitative business intelligence into practical lending strategies, credit calculations and recommendations that can be implemented by Line 1 Business Banking teams. We’re particularly excited to hear from candidates who have:

  • Strong understanding of business lending, commercial credit decisioning, portfolio management and lending processes within financial services.
  • Proven experience leading major transformation projects or strategic change initiatives within business lending, commercial credit, financial services or a similarly complex environment.
  • Strong credit strategy capability, including the ability to interpret economic indicators, industry dynamics, geopolitical trends, customer cash flow pressures and market conditions, and translate these into practical credit strategy implications.
  • Experience developing, calibrating or optimising decisioning rules, policy settings, referral criteria or automated lending strategies.
  • Strong analytical and commercial judgement, with the ability to connect macroeconomic signals, customer behaviour and portfolio trends to credit calculations, decisioning outcomes and balanced business recommendations.
  • Experience working with large data environments, such as Teradata, Hive, Spark or similar, and using data to test hypotheses, segment portfolios and develop evidence-based recommendations.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex analysis, influence senior stakeholders and drive outcomes across business, data, product and technology teams.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, challenge existing approaches and drive continuous improvement in credit decisioning and lending transformation.
