The National Security Sector at Leidos is seeking a dynamic Project Manager for the NAVSEA Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS 5) program based out of Chesapeake, VA. This position is responsible for leading activities associated with executing the PEO IWS5 contract as directed by the Shipboard Installation Program Manager. The East Coast Installation Project Manager oversees the training, administration, planning, and resource management of the Leidos East Coast Alteration Installation Team (AIT), based in Chesapeake, VA, and conducting shipboard combat systems installations worldwide.
The successful candidate will be the manager of installation teams ranging in size from 12-50; including multiple sub-contractors and companies, in the proper execution of shipboard upgrades and installations of electronic systems on US Navy Ships. In order to be successful, the candidate must have experience in shipboard copper & fiber optic cable removal / installation, electrical equipment (specifically C4I and Combat Systems) removal / installation, and associated items such as connectors and banding. Additionally, the candidate must possess experience and ability in power, mechanical, and internal equipment modifications. The incumbent will be looked to as a subject matter expert by junior personnel and will be expected to provide mentorship and leadership where appropriate.

Responsibilities – What You’ll Be Doing:
Provides oversight and communicates the Leidos personnel policies, purposes, and goals of the organization to the team.
Leads program execution under the direction of the Shipboard Installation Program Manager.
Responsible for quality, staffing, and schedule performance.
Responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of management plans, tasking and production, and meeting deliverables on the program.
Interfaces with customers, organizes and supports, team meetings and various other business rhythms.
Supports, under the direction of the Shipboard Installation Program Manager, the overall risk and opportunity management, including cost/financial management, quality assurance, risk & opportunities management, data management, document control, contract/ subcontracting management, training & qualification processes, manpower planning, and execution and control of program’s contractual, administrative, and financial requirements.
Manages a team consisting of experienced professionals and directs the tasking of a geographically dispersed team, who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
Responsible for recruiting talent, promotions, performance management, and reward incentive decisions for direct reports.
Demonstrates Management experience in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects within the services area.
Required Experience, Skills, and Education – To Land This Gig You’ll Need:
At least three (3) years of previous supervisory experience in a shipyard environment in leading major shipboard Combat Systems/C4I upgrades with team size of at least 12-50 personnel
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and five or more (5+) years of experience. Related military experience may substitute education requirement.
Demonstrable experience in the management and direction of subcontractors in industrial related tasks aboard ship
Extensive multi-pin connector expertise (009-73/MIL-STD-2003), to include fabrication, inspection and supervision
Extensive cableway installation expertise, to include inspection
Must be able to read and understand Ship Installation Drawings.
Experience with 9090-310, NAVSEA Standard Items, WAF/TUMS.
Understanding of shipboard/shipyard environment.
Proficient with MS Office and strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to develop schedules in Microsoft Project
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to climb ladders
Possess valid passport
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education – Favorable if you have:
Experience in evaluation and mitigation of risk as it relates to execution
Electrical experience
Fiber-optic connector expertise, to include inspection
Experience interfacing with Government On-Site Installation Coordinators (OSICs)
Experience with customers such as PEO IWS 5
Clearance Required:
Must be eligible for a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
