See yourself in our team

This team sits within Business Banking (BB) Distribution Risk, aligned to Commercial Banking (CB). The team works to be a trusted partner to CB in all facets of risk management and represents CB in risk-related initiatives and changes. The role itself has a specific focus on financial risk management.

Do work that matters

Reporting into the Senior Manager Risk and Control Advisory and Delivery, you will join a team whose focus is to provide appropriate risk support to enable CB to grow safely and within the expectations of customers, regulators, and the broader community.

On any given day you will

  • Provide pragmatic risk advice to various stakeholders, ensuring a safe, sound and efficient operational environment

  • Partner with the CB business to provide guidance on complex incidents, areas of weakness, and appropriate management on a wide variety of risks

  • Support with the identification, escalation and reporting of operational risk and compliance matters to the BB leadership team and other relevant stakeholders

  • Conduct change impact assessments for changes led by BB and assess impact of other Group changes on BB activities

  • Use your subject matter expertise in the financial risk area to identify areas of opportunity or pain points for CB, and work with stakeholders to influence or implement uplifts

  • Manage root cause analysis of issues and incidents, identifying and implementing control improvements whilst maintaining quality documentation throughout

  • Proactively upskill yourself on new and emerging risks, particularly relating to changes to risk and compliance frameworks and Group policies

  • Capture and maintain data quality of risk and compliance items captured in the Group risk management tool (RiskInSite).

We’re interested in hearing from people who have

  • An understanding of the Commercial Banking business

  • Prior commercial lending experience (knowledge of CCL and commercial lending end to end processes is an advantage)

  • Knowledge of Operational and Compliance Risk Frameworks is advantageous

  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders to drive positive outcomes

  • High quality written and verbal communication skills, report writing, evidence gathering and data capabilities

  • Ability to work in an environment with a large number of stakeholders and competing priorities
