Business Operations Administrator

£25,000 - £27,000 plus benefits

Reports to: Business Change Manager (CRH)

Directorate: Research & Innovation

Contract: 6 month fixed-term contract

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Location: Stratford, London Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated administrator to join our commercial partnerships team, specially our business operations team, to support with general admin with a focus on financial and patent administration.

About the team

The Commercial Partnerships Business Operations team sits within Cancer Research Horizons (CRH), Cancer Research UK’s innovation engine. CRH seeks to bring to life new drugs and technologies to fight cancer, that come from the ideas generated by academic research funded by CRUK. The Business Operations team touches every part of the commercialisation process supporting the specialist business units within Commercial Partnerships and more widely within CRH. As such the team has a dynamic, supported and fast-moving atmosphere.  

We are looking for candidates with an interest in learning more about commercialisation of intellectual property, who have a willingness to learn and can-do attitude. You don’t need experience within the sector but you do need top notch admin skills, great communication skills and enjoy working on a variety of projects at one time

What will I be doing?

  • Provide administration support for the Business Operations team, including:  

  • Supporting finance processes creating receivables, purchase orders, patent fees and new supplier set up 

  • Supporting on Patent team administration activities and data audits 

  • Maintaining data integrity and updating fields on our record management system (Minuet). 

  • Managing the group inbox and internal and external stakeholder expectations.  

  • Designing, drafting and maintaining processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs). 

What are you looking for?

  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills 

  • Proven ability to work to a high standard with an eye for detail, working under own initiative and managing multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Experience of working within an administrative capacity for a team. 

  • Effective at assisting with contract compliance with a variety of partners and stakeholders. 

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office programmes, 

  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently,  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.

  • Desire to gain an understanding of partnership deals involving commercialisation of intellectual property.
