POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Analyst, Loan Accounting is responsible for supporting BDC indirect initiative and to produce various journal entries, daily and monthly analyses, reports and notes to FS. They are also responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data and the resolution of discrepancies. This person will act as a backup and support to colleagues on the team.
This person must have strong skills in analysis and processing of large data. Strong interpersonal skills, team spirit and the ability to build relationships with partners.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Play a key role in the Co-lending program and act as a point of contact to ensure accurate communication of information to/from financial institutions
Prepare monthly journal entries for various loan transactions in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) while meeting tight deadlines
Prepare month-end reconciliations in a timely manner to ensure that various systems are aligned, investigate and resolve discrepancies
Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements notes and key highlights for the MD&A for indirect initiatives within tight deadlines. Ensure financial information is compliant with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Produce the quarterly analytical review.
Prepare monthly reports on key performance indicators for the dashboard and to various internal clients
Prepare monthly reports for external partners that require attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Prepare and respond to requests from Government Relations and Statistics Canada Ensure that hybrid loans (CAD and USD) are properly accounted for, validate and communicate with loan operations for corrections.
Prepare and maintain rigorous documentation and process for loan accounting and recommend changes if required Identify and implement business process improvements to achieve efficiencies
Respond to ad hoc requests from internal clients regarding loan accounting treatments and processes. Respond to requests from internal and external auditors
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Professional designation CPA
University degree in business administration or accounting
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis
Experience in a financial institution, an asset
Knowledge of SQL and Power BI, an asset
Solid knowledge of accounting principles, policies and practices
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to organize and collect data for management reporting purposes
Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, Power BI, etc.)
Strong ability to work under pressure and to organize work within tight deadlines
Comfortable working with systems and identifying system solutions
Excellent administrative and organizational skills
Good oral and written communication skills in both official languages (French and English)
