The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a motivated Senior Software Engineer to to join our team supporting the U.S. Army Program Executive Office -Aviation and the Project Management Office, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (PM UAS) initiative. This team works with a federal workforce staff with technical expertise directly supporting Modular Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) requirements for Army aviation platforms. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

The Senior Software Engineer will analyze and develop microservices-based software components for use in Army Aviation applications and environments. Responsible for designing, developing, operating and maintaining software, firmware components, or computing systems software to be applied to and integrated with solutions or products that also encompass non-information technology related engineering or scientific disciplines. These solutions or products may require hardware, aerospace, communications, cyber, electrical, manufacturing, mechanical, or other specialized engineering domain knowledge in order to design, develop, and support software components embedded within them. Applies the appropriate software standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system life cycle to support the generation of multi-disciplinary solutions and products such as simulations of engineering and scientific problems, avionics, command and control, tactical displays, medical devices, sensors, and electro-mechanical systems. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate existing software components against customer requirements to identify areas of compliance and capability gaps
  • Work within a GitLab environment to plan / execute development tasks and manage project source code repositories
  • Collaborate with a small team of developers and systems engineers to design/architect, plan, and estimate follow-on development efforts
  • Interact with customer requirements and design information within a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) ecosystem
  • Re-deploy existing microservices into a FACE-aligned architecture to establish a developmental baseline for follow-on development efforts


Qualifications:

Required: 

  • An active DoD Secret clearance
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (Engineering - Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Math, Physics) from an accredited University
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working in one or more of the following areas, with preference towards candidates whose work experience includes DOD projects
    *Experience developing software for complex software systems or embedded systems. Preference towards those with experience working with virtualized or containerized software systems for embedded system applications.
    *Experience developing software aligned to Open System standards. Preference towards those with experience working with FACE standards.
    *Experience developing requirements, documentation, and design for complex or embedded software systems.
  • Experience working with configuration management systems and tools (Subversion, GIT, Atlassian, etc..)
  • Experience developing, designing, and / or testing systems which leverage containerization technologies or microservices based architectures. Preference towards experience with Kubernetes and Docker.


Desired:

  • MBSE modeling experience
  • Experience in developing accurate Rough Order of Magnitude for software development programs
  • Experience in responding to Software Development RFI/RFPs and writing in-depth and quality technical volumes
  • Experience with additional Open System standards (e.g. SOSA, MOSA, CMOSS, MORA, etc.)

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$94,000 - $197,400
