About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Payments Consultant to join our team based in Baden, Switzerland. This is a hands-on, client-facing technical role with a strong focus on payment transaction screening and AML solutions. The role requires deep technical expertise combined with the ability to work closely with clients, particularly their AML and payments teams, to support configuration, tuning, and optimisation of screening solutions. The successful candidate will act as a technical subject-matter expert, providing guidance while ensuring regulatory responsibility remains with the client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, configure, and support payment transaction screening solutions, with a primary focus on AML and sanctions screening.
  • Support clients in tuning screening logic and algorithms, explaining impacts such as false positives and false negatives.
  • Act as a trusted technical adviser to client AML and payments teams via calls, virtual meetings, and in-person sessions.
  • Perform hands-on technical activities including Linux access, log file analysis, SFTP configuration, and system integrations (MQ, REST APIs).
  • Lead technical investigations into client-reported issues, providing root-cause analysis and resolution guidance.
  • Define and implement client application configurations and support environment provisioning.
  • Document technical implementations and ensure effective handover to application support teams post go-live.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, application management, and product development.
  • Provide feedback to product and development teams to support continuous improvement of screening solutions.

Required Skills & Expertise

  • Strong technical background with hands-on problem-solving capability.
  • Experience in payment transaction screening and AML environments.
  • Working knowledge of Linux / Unix environments and databases (SQL).
  • Experience with client-server architectures and web-based applications.
  • Knowledge of SFTP, MQ (e.g. WebSphere MQ), and REST API integrations.
  • Understanding of payments processing flows, SWIFT messaging, and ISO 20022.
  • Ability to explain complex technical and risk-related topics clearly to clients.
  • Fluency in English and German is required, with proficiency in French and/or Italian considered an advantage.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong, demonstrated experience within financial services, banking, payments, or regulated fintech environments.

Working Model & Additional Requirements

  • Hybrid working model with a minimum of two days per week on-site in Baden.
  • Participation in on-call rotation, including potential weekday evenings and weekends.
  • Occasional travel within Switzerland for client trainings and workshops.

What We Offer

  • A challenging role in an international, client-facing environment.
