The Role

Join the IWMS Data Solutions team as a Principal Data Engineer and help shape the next generation of IWMS data capabilities. As our data ecosystem rapidly expands, you’ll drive high‑impact architectural decisions and lead the design, build, and rollout of modern data solutions across Snowflake, AWS, Python, Oracle, and Postgres. This is a standout opportunity to influence strategy, elevate engineering excellence, and deliver platforms that power critical business outcomes.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Technical Leadership & Engineering Excellence

  • 15+ years of data engineering experience with a strong foundation in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Proven ownership of end‑to‑end data ecosystems — lake, lakehouse, and warehouse.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise‑scale ETL, analytics, and reporting solutions.
  • Ability to translate complex business challenges into scalable, elegant technical designs.

Cloud, Data, and Platform Engineering

  • 5+ years building cloud-native applications, preferably on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with serverless technologies, containers (Docker/ECS/EKS/Kubernetes), and modern deployment pipelines.
  • Strong CI/CD experience using tools like Maven, Jenkins, Bitbucket/Stash, Ansible, Docker, plus IaC skills with Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Advanced Snowflake skills: modeling, optimization, tasks/streams, and cost‑efficient pipeline design.
  • Strong SQL, stored procedures, Linux, and shell scripting.
  • Bonus: experience with Kafka, Kinesis, EventBridge, or similar event-streaming tools.

ETL & Programming

  • Expertise building robust ETL pipelines using Informatica and Python.
  • Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills across distributed systems and production environments.
  • Solid Unix/Linux knowledge and scripting skills.

Software Engineering Excellence

  • Hands-on experience in Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Knowledge of configuration management, automated testing, static code analysis, version control, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Ability to contribute meaningfully to architecture reviews and design discussions.

Collaboration, Leadership & Communication

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner closely with business stakeholders.
  • Experience working with global, distributed Agile teams.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, work independently, and drive outcomes in fast-moving environments.
  • Commitment to clear, high-quality technical documentation.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor and develop engineers, supporting their technical growth and career development.
  • Lead technical planning, architecture discussions, solution design, and code reviews for major initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of quality, learning, and continuous improvement across global teams.
  • Provide clear technical direction, especially when navigating complex or ambiguous problem spaces.

The Value You Deliver

  • Curiosity and creativity in identifying smarter ways to solve problems.
  • Ability to rapidly adopt new tools, technologies, and approaches.
  • Passion for exploring modern data and engineering innovations to meet business needs.
  • Drive to improve productivity and deliver automation through CI/CD and modern engineering practices.

The Team

You’ll join a dynamic, globally distributed Agile team dedicated to advancing IWMS data capabilities. We value innovation, strong engineering principles, and continuous learning. Together, we build scalable data solutions, enhance platform reliability, and drive the evolution of a modern, high-performing data ecosystem.
