Job Description

Position is responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled carpentry and carpentry related tasks within an R&D work environment. This will include repairs and improvements to equipment and buildings. Work is reviewed periodically on a project basis.

• Builds, repairs and installs counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors building framework and trim.
• Ability to interpret drawings to determine dimensions.
• Move and assist in transportation of furniture and equipment.
• Set up and break down of cubicle partitions, exercising discretion to identify projects that need high skilled craft’s individual’s services.
• Replaces damages ceiling tile, floor tile and wall coverings.
• Must be able to maintain work logs.
• Ability to use various power and hand tools efficiently.
• Maintains storage areas organized.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• Education and/or Experience:  High school diploma, general education degree (GED) and 2-4 years of related experience or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education including vocational training.

• Language Skills:   Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

• Mathematical Skills   Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

• Reasoning Ability:   Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to enter time and data into a computer system.
