Facilitation Manager

The Facilitation Manager at Lifelabs Learning is responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive engagement, performance, and the growth and development of our full time, part-time, and contract facilitation teams. This role will collaborate cross-functionally to expand and grow our: regional presence, client resources, individual contributors, and business development and marketing efforts. This role reports to the Director of Facilitation and is responsible for managing and leading a facilitation team.

A. Drive Facilitation Strategic Growth

Purpose: To work alongside the Director of Facilitation to craft strategy and execution plans for our facilitation team to teach life’s most useful skills, delight our clients, and support live learning experiences, online and in-person.

  • Drive the development and effectiveness of the Facilitation team by owning a business-critical area and/or project (e.g. learning materials development, resources, onboarding, hiring, learning plans).

  • Coordination with the Director of Facilitation and BizOps/Product Ops in supporting decision-making around resource and capacity planning, utilization, and forecasting.

  • Collaborate cross functionally with internal teams in care of systems, processes, and tools to support learners/members, sponsors, and podmates.

  • Collaborate with Business Development (BD), Product Design, Development, & Delivery (PD3), and Product Operations teams to lead and support recruitment and Client engagement activities, such as Culture Club, events, conferences, etc.

  • Collaborate within the facilitation managers to support facilitation team members.

  • Partner cross-functionally with other department leaders to navigate opportunities and challenges in a specific geographical region.

  • Maintain a strong awareness of our learners, sponsors and clients needs and goals to inform facilitator development, expectations, and strategic needs of the facilitation team.

B. Team Culture and Development

Purpose: Cultivate world-class Facilitation Teams by establishing the right structure, roles, and team culture that drives engagement, learning, diversity, inclusion, and high performance.

  • Work alongside the Director of Facilitation to ensure and drive the success of the facilitation team.

  • Manage a team of Facilitators.

  • Support and coach team members within a geo-specific region to help them meet performance metrics, solve challenges, clarify their thinking, identify priorities, and develop their skills and confidence. 

  • Assess and give monthly feedback on role performance and deliberate development opportunities in support of world-class facilitation experiences

  • Shadow facilitators to observe their work, share resources, help them develop skills and knowledge, and cultivate the overall team's capabilities.

  • Work with the Director of Facilitation when team members are not meeting performance expectations.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all questions pertaining to their primary role (e.g., role expectations, success metrics, processes, policies, workload challenges). 

  • Model our feedback culture by: pulling for feedback on individual manager performance and act as connectors of critical information, patterns, and vibe by pulling for team members point of view about the broader facilitation team, product department, and company.

  • Meet with your podmates and team on a regular basis as a way to build team culture, support individuals 1:1, improve CAMPS, and move critical work deliverables forward.

  • Foster and model a culture that shows a dedication to our values and results in engagement, belonging, learning, and high performance.

  • Identify, communicate, and work with Facilitation Team members to remove barriers to performance, engagement, and progress towards strategic goals across the department.

  • Support company and team goals, projects, efforts, and tasks as needed. 

  • Conduct regular 1-1 meetings with team members (at least monthly), ensuring timely completion without canceling (unless on PTO).

  • Engage in timely coaching conversations when necessary to address performance gaps and support team members in meeting expectations.

  • Collaborate with team members to assist in the development and implementation of their individual development plans, while empowering them to advocate for their needs and interests.

  • Provide support in facilitating live learning workshops, events, and/or coaching to support capacity as needed, contributing to the overall success of team activities and projects.

Success Metrics

  • 100% of team members are meeting their role-specific success metrics at any given time, or are actively in coaching conversations, and/or have an active final evaluation plan (FEP) in place.

    • Why this metric? Our quality is what sets us apart, and it is our core strategy to fulfill our mission. (Note that our role metrics create space for performance variability, so the aim here is excellence but not perfection).

  • Ensure podmates are meeting the client preparation and administrative tasks of the facilitator role.

  • 100% completion rate and on-time-rate of Manager responsibilities (e.g., mocks, observations, stats review).

    • Why this metric? While Managers can’t take full responsibility for other people’s performance and engagement, we can take responsibility for delivering on our commitments. 

  • 100% completion rate of monthly success metrics, with accuracy.

  • Ensure team members complete all required trainings.

  • Successful project management in areas owned/assigned (e.g. learning materials development, resources, onboarding, hiring, learning plans).

Requirements:

  • Experience managing a team or teams of facilitators, teachers, coaches, and/or trainers. 

  • Experience in project management and managing multiple projects at once.

  • Expertise in facilitation, teaching, and presenting in a full-time professional capacity. Experience teaching adult learners about workplace related topics preferred. 

  • Have a track record of meeting and/or outperforming facilitation performance metrics.

  • Know all workshops on the menu and ensure learning plans are in place for new live learning experiences.

  • This role may require up to 20% travel.

  • Start date: ASAP

  • Location: Must be located in the greater Los Angeles, greater San Francisco/Bay Area, or greater Seattle areas.

  • Employment Type: Full-time

  • Starting Salary: $110K - $150K

    • Starting salary matches your skills and readiness for the role assessed during the interview process.

  • Compensation: salary + bonus (Success Share)

    • Our compensation system is transparent and consistently applied throughout the company. As you take on new responsibilities, you can expect a yearly compensation increase, so long as you are meeting the role expectations #AlwaysBeLearning! This translates into a predictable raise up to $150K base salary, after which your base salary will increase based on an annual merit increase.

    • Additionally, you will be eligible to participate in our quarterly Success Share program which is a 10% bonus on your eligible earnings when we hit our quarterly revenue target.

    • Year 1: 10% of 110K Year 2: 10% of 120K Year 3: 10% of 130K  Year 4: 10% of 140K Year 5: 10% of 150K Year 6: 10% of 150K + 2% COLA

  • Long-Term Incentive Plan: As part of your compensation package, you will be eligible to participate in the company's Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP). Your equity grant will be commensurate with the Expert band of this role.
