Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is seeking a Manager, Information Technology Operations, to join our growing Information Technology team! The Manager, Information Technology Operations, is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Service Desk and Operations teams. This includes providing technical support, ensuring the reliability and availability of enterprise systems, and maintaining system security through policy execution. The Manager, Information Technology Operations, will also closely collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure that the IT infrastructure can meet the changing needs of the business. 

Success in this role is defined by the following: successfully ensuring the efficiency, integrity, and availability of IT systems, both hardware and software. They will ensure constant improvement towards identified KPIs, that team members are kept abreast of current technology trends, and the efficient management of IT contracts through the entire contract life cycle. They will develop and maintain sustainable policies and procedures that move the enterprise forward. Also, they must ensure that customer support and satisfaction are highly prioritized within the team. 

The Manager, Information Technology Operations reports directly to the Senior Director, Information Technology & Digital Security.  

What You’ll Do: 

  • Be a hands-on manager who provides thought leadership and serves as an escalation point for the Service Desk. 
  • Manage vendors and service/application contracts as appropriate. 
  • Install, configure, monitor, and maintain computer hardware, software, systems, servers, networks, printers, and scanners. 
  • Responsible for IT asset inventory. 
  • Responsible for mentorship and training of subordinate roles.  
  • Monitor system performance and ensure availability and reliability. 
  • Manage IT Infrastructure by ensuring the security and efficiency of IT systems. 
  • Assist in maintaining the software/hardware budget of all contracts and invoices throughout the organization.   
  • Monitor and process maintenance and contract renewals. 
  • Develop policies, processes, and procedures documentation and provide internal training to departments and impacted users. 
  • Oversee IT projects from the planning phase through execution, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.  
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand and meet their IT needs.  
  • Drive process improvements and measures by implementing metrics to meet quality and delivery goals. 
  • Generate reports from various data sources. 
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Must-Haves: 

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in hands-on application of information technology operations.  
  • 2+ years of experience in a senior team member role or a role that provided management of other employees.  
  • Have a service-oriented mindset. 
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills - the ability to step back on topics while keeping an operation view when necessary. 
  • Excellent communication and project management skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience with support of Windows Operating Systems, SQL Server, and Active Directory. 
  • Microsoft 365 Platform, including Azure, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, PowerShell, and Office Suite. 

Nice-to-Haves: 

  • Agile (Scrum) project implementation and management experience. 
  • Project Management experience.  
  • Experience collaborating with third-party providers. 
  • Experience within the construction or power-generating industry. 

Education and Certifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer technology, information technology, cybersecurity or a related field is required.  
  • An advanced degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or related fields is preferred. 
  • One of the following Security certifications is required: Sec+, AZ900, PMP, CISM, ITIL, CSM, CITP, CITM, CCNA, CM (Certified Manager), or similar.   

Working Environment and Physical Demand: 

  • This position will be on-site, based in our Corporate office in Asheville, NC. 
  • This position can be a hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days in the office. 
  • This position includes travel up to 10% to our offices and for company events.   
  • The position works in an office environment. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment requiring the ability to balance multiple assignments. 
  • Must be able to work independently, raise issues, and propose solutions. 
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer for extended periods.
