Job Description Summary

Position Overview: The Upgrades Sales Director will lead the sales Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) process on all performance/reliability upgrades within the Onshore Wind Segment in North America. The Upgrades Sales Director will be responsible for a sales order plan and managing the budget of in year convertible orders as well as pipeline orders for backlog. This role involves driving optimized sales strategies; leading a team of Upgrades salespersons; establishing internal demand/integrated business plan processes to support inventory planning; supporting negotiation of customer bids; and working closely with customers to achieve commercial approvals for various performance/reliability upgrades.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Communication:
    • Lead functional teams or projects with cross-functional implications, specifically, developing an integrated business planning process for Conversions, Modification and Upgrades (CM&U) to plan across inventory management, software deployment, and other business planning cycles.
    • Manage and own a yearly operating budget for Revenue, Margin and Backlog Orders within the CM&U segment of Services.
    • Communicate difficult concepts and influence others' opinions on relevant topics.
    • Guide others to consider different points of view.
  • Manage Commercial Underwriting Procedures:
    • Oversee the commercial ITO underwriting procedures for Onshore Wind Services upgrade offerings… turbine/farm level software/hardware, performance upgrades, environmental upgrades, etc.
    • Support and oversee performance modeling, configuration management, and project suitability analysis from cross functional groups (App/Req Engineering).
  • Bid Development and Negotiation:
    • Support the team’s commercial and technical analysis of customer inquiries, RFQs, or tenders to determine proposal requirements, scope of supply, and winning product configurations.
    • Provide matrix leadership of the commercial and technical teams, including Commercial Leaders, Application Engineering, Product Engineering, Renewables Product Line, Supply Chain and other technical disciplines.
  • Strategic Influence:
    • Utilize specialized knowledge across product lines, markets, sales processes, and customer groups.
    • Influence the development of sales strategies for broad territories, including resource control.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making:
    • Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices.
    • Stay informed of industry trends.
    • Use high-level judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems.
    • Assess the quality of information and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders or customers.
    • Offer new solutions to problems and provide recommendations using multiple internal and external sources.
  • Customer Engagement:
    • Actively participate in customer meetings to influence and drive resolution on the approval of performance upgrade offerings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, environmental, financial or related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the wind energy industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven success delivering performance upgrades to wind energy projects in North America, from Inquiry-to-Order through Order-to-Remittance

  • Strong Financial/Commercial acumen, with proficient understanding of pro-forma modeling for both external customers and internal financial reviews.
  • Ability to understand technical operational matters and translate them into commercial and financial analyses and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated expertise in turbine technical due diligence, performance analysis, and wind farm controls (turbine and farm level technologies)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $151,400.00 and $252,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: sales incentive.
