Internship Program Overview:
Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Our goal is to provide students with a meaningful work experience that will equip them with the skills to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. As an intern at GF, you’ll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.
Summary of Role:
The Strategic University Partnership intern will help support both the research pipeline and talent pipeline at GF. The selected individual will work closely within gfLabs (our External R&D organization) and GF’s strategic university partners as well as cross-functionally with Talent Acquistion, Workforce Development, and the business. The internship role will have the opportunity to program manage GF involvement in university events, analyze workforce development initiatives, and work with a cross-functional team.
Essential Responsibilities include:
Create a reporting and tracking mechanism for talent hired from our strategic university partner schools and consortia, and analyze the initiatives that drive the pipeline
Analyze existing and future workforce development initiatives such as sponsorships, scholarships, capstones, professorships, and recommend actions to get the best value out
Tie our university relationships back to our internal employees by getting them involved in guest speakerships, proactively following research topics, and accessing talks and publications
Program manage GF’s engagement at a student technical & recruiting conference, handling internal communications, registrations, resumes previews, etc. to maximize value at the event
Organize 1-2 fab tours for university students, handling communications, logistics, registrations, agenda, speakers, and panelists
Attend GF’s STEM and career outreach external events in the local region when possible, to gain a further understanding of the education to industry connection
Other Responsibilities:
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
Education – At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in in business, human resources, communications, marketing, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
Ability to work at least 20 hours per week during the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior related internship or co-op experience
Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong planning & organizational skills
Interest in building the bridge for students from education to industry
Interest in understanding how the different parts of the business work together to engage with external educational organizations
