The AEL Summer Internship Program offers an immersive real-world experience, closely replicating the career journey of an American Equity professional. Each intern will contribute to meaningful, hands-on projects that drive measurable business outcomes, gaining valuable experience along the way.

Interns will also have the opportunity to present their project work to company leaders, network with executives, and participate in educational programs designed to support their personal and professional growth. Additionally, interns will engage in community service projects and social events, building connections with fellow interns and the broader American Equity team.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:   

The marketing intern works with our product marketing team to develop, maintain, and deliver marketing collateral that drives growth for new product launches and product lifecycle events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Product Story Telling, Positioning, and Maintenance - Collaborates with stakeholders in the development of engaging content aligned with our key segments. Ensures consistency and alignment of messaging across our product portfolio and market-facing content.
  • Stakeholder Alignment - Builds deep relationships across the marketing org along with key stakeholders including Sales, Compliance, and Marketing to ensure alignment and utilization of our product marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate on product marketing initiatives by creating and executing product marketing timelines to align with product launches, product life cycle updates, and key initiatives.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Gather and key performance indicators related to adoption, growth, engagement, and sales, presenting regular performance insights to marketing management.
  • Learn essential duties and functions: Shadow different team members to learn their day-to-day duties.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, communications, economics, business management or a similar field.
  • Experience in marketing or marketing design is a plus.

  • N/A

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to consume multiple sources of feedback and synthesize this into recommendations for product value propositions.
  • Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify the complex.
  • Comfortable providing strategic direction to creative teams and ensuring content is aligned to achieving goals.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize requests to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to new situations as they arise.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
