The Learning Experience Designer will design the instructional content for all deliverables. This position performs a challenging range of complex activities including planning, analysis, and design of instructor-led and technology enabled learning solutions. You will be responsible for the learning experience design of associated projects to achieve strategic business objectives to improve performance, engagement and development. This role collaborates with our Learning Partners and Organizational Design Consultants to design course activity, update content and materials and identify new ways to engage learners.


The ideal future caregiver is someone who:

• Is able to independently develop and design full learning experiences with minimal supervision. 

• Has a strong understanding of learning design theory and can apply them to create a variety of learning materials including in-person learning, virtual synchronous learning, asynchronous learning, and supporting learning materials.

• Has strong project management skills to lead the design process and strong relationship skills to partner and collaborate with subject matter experts.

• Has excellent verbal and written communication.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partners with Global Leadership & Learning Institute colleagues and stakeholders to design, deploy, measure, sustain and scale learning experiences aligned with business objectives that support the leadership team and the organization’s overall strategic leadership development priorities focusing holistically on the learner.
  • Works with Learning Partners and other key stakeholders to refine the organizational capabilities and talent requirements necessary to achieve business outcomes; leverages this information to develop and execute CC's strategies, programs, and learning solutions.
  • Designs and develops informal and formal learning experience solutions using a variety of methods.
  • Conducts a needs assessment to identify an appropriate learning approach.   Designs a learning experience that integrates technology options and/or an integrated learning journey solution.
  • Influences all phases of a project, from initial discovery phase, rapid prototyping, evidence-based learning, and concept refinement to rigorous learner testing and production oversight.
  • Develops appropriate learning assets and instructional materials in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, engaging and effective for defined audiences.
  • Establishes credibility as a learning experience designer and facilitator that creates a positive learning climate that encourages participation, collaboration and builds learner motivation to impact a learning community.
  • Communicates leadership development program/service metrics that inform and support stakeholders and key members of the Global Leadership and Learning Institute team charged with adapting the continuous learning journey for Cleveland Clinic.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Educational Pedagogy, Neuroscience, Learning Design and/or related degree.
  • Master of Science in Educational Technology or eLearning preferred.

Certifications:

  • Advanced certification as a Certified Performance & Learning Professional (CPLP) preferred.

Complexity of Work:

  • Project Management Skills: Ability to design and work on multiple projects with rapid development deadlines
  • Industry Knowledge & Learning Technology Innovations: Experience designing and developing blended learning including, Web-Based Training, Instructor-Led Training and virtual training
  • Collaborative Communication Skills: Experience with working with multimedia and graphic design professionals during the course development process.
  • Design Thinking Skills: collaboration skills, a global mindset skills that includes accommodating cultural differences; respect for different perspectives; and expansion of self- awareness.
  • Proficiency in working with numerous eLearning authoring tools.
  • High proficiency in computer skills (including MS Office) as well as in data analytics measuring impact.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in Organizational Learning and Learning Experience Design in a large, global, complex and continuously changing corporate or healthcare environment performing as an Learning Experience Designer for formal instructor-led and hybrid eLearning modalities, including a minimum 2 years of experience developing educational/learning design for adult learners. Three 3 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role or project management role preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods. 
  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system. For some roles, ability to travel to other locations, including international travel.
  • Ability to operate a computer, audio visual and other office equipment.           
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information, including the ability to deliver any applicable training in person and virtually.
  • In some locations, ability to move up to 25 lbs.
