About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for Mechanical Design Engineer to work as part of the Operations team here at the Humber Facility across several Frameworks and Projects around the country. The role allows you a unique opportunity to join our client facing team delivering the design from its conceptual phase into detailed design, manufacture, and implementation on site. Being part of that team offers a unique opportunity to drive change and innovation in engineering, safety and delivery solutions supporting value engineering. 

The successful candidates will become part of a respected and ambitious team working from our Humber Facility, within Asset Solutions, to support the growth and sustainability of the performance unit moving forward. Amentum Enterprise Asset Solutions are offering a truly fantastic opportunity which will allow the successful individuals to be involved across multiple client sectors around the UK supporting this critical site designer role.

The role will consist of working alongside our Senior Designer and Project Management team to develop the design deliverables into the project schemes in accordance with British Standards and Client specifications. The role involves the completion of various contract client technical documentation. The successful candidate will be using digital design hardware to upload the collated information onto Amentum data and cloud systems. Typically including new design documents, including 3D models, up-dating drawings, design to meet the client gate processes timelines, up-loading and maintaining client’s documentation on their remote platforms and general reporting in line with the contract to the Amentum Operation leads. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Working alongside Amentum Mechanical Engineers and Project Managers to develop engineering concepts.

  • Develop design concepts into scheme drawings in accordance with British Standards and Client Specifications.

  • Liaise with other engineering disciplines.

  • Prepare drawings for design review meetings as required both internal and external.

  • Prepare for and attend HAZOPS as required.

  • Ability to log in client’s various portal systems and up-load, download documentation, up-date clients progress trackers as required under the contract.

  • Attend site on occasions to review inspection teams’ data input, offer assistance / solutions to technical queries.

  • Participate in developing the growth of the team and wider Amentum growth strategies.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Mechanical ONC minimum.

  • Must have experience in 3D CAD, Solidworks or Inventor.

  • Knowledge of relevant drawing standards BS8888, BS5070 and BS EN 61082.

  • Strong IT skills, office 365 and Excel knowledge essential.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proactive approach.

  • Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with people at all levels of an organisation.

  • Experience of developing design from models and conceptual discussions. 

  • Site and Engineering experience / knowledge is essential. Training / mentoring in all aspects of the role will be given.
